The War Council convenes....

In Crown of Chaos, Duchess Jacqueline Arienta Xavier makes her way north to the wilds of Cetachi to attend the long-awaited War Council. After spending the last several months evading her enemies, Jax is ready to face her adversaries head-on to fight for equality and freedom throughout the Realm of Virtues.

With the sovereigns of the realm gathered together for the first time in recent memory, Jax is prepared for anything to happen...except stumbling across a grisly murder.

The crown has never been so heavy in this latest Court of Mystery adventure.

You absolutely can’t miss out on this one

Wow, of all the Court of Mystery books, this one is by far the most suspenseful.
Sitting on the edge of your seat, praying your favorite characters won’t die, can’t stop listening, suspenseful.
I absolutely loved it! (I devoured this book)

The War Council is finally happening. This is where the series has been working toward for several books now, and it didn’t disappoint.
Part of this book is suspenseful/ action packed, and another part is more in line with previous books, following Jax as she puzzles out a mystery.
In George’s words : “Nothing stands between Jax and solving a mystery”
I loved both.
I really felt like the story and build-up till now asked for the more suspenseful part, and puzzling out mysteries with Jax is part of why I love this series.

A couple of our beloved characters aren’t a part of this book, but a new character is introduced and it was such a treat to get to know her.
Hope to read (listen) more of her in the last installment.

Compliments to Melissa for another excellent performance!
At some point in the story Jax panics, and the way Melissa narrated this particular moment really hit me (I was near tears, in my mind repeating the same words as Jax.. )
I can’t tell you more without spoiling anything, but I just wanted to say this was a memorable moment for me because of both the narration and the meaning of and behind the words.

If you’ve followed the series, you absolutely can’t miss out on this one.
For new readers, this is not a stand-alone story.
If you haven’t read any books in this series yet, start with ‘The Ducal Detective Mysteries’ (you won’t regret it).

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

betrayals and allies

The blatant disrespect to opem hatred for Jax by her peers was astounding and made me furious. I was pleased to see some allies I hadn't expected step forward for Jax. The battle against evil still persists. There were a lot of tense edge of my seat moments. I look forward to more. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Oh so good!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I have been waiting what feels like forever for this book! And it did not disappoint! In the credits Sarah talks about how this was a hard book to write because it is different from her others and I think she did an amazing job. With all the dukes and duchess’s you would think that a murder wouldn’t happen but oh my goodness this was a twisted plot. A triad code of succession and a trap by jac’s enemies it’s amazing how many do make it out alive. It is sad that so many characters do die but it does make the book.
I absolutely loved it and I highly recommend it. It fits well within the series. I can’t wait for the next one. I will be sad when the series ends... but I guess I’ll just have to listen to them all again.
