Publisher's summary

Rule number one: Don’t piss off the dragon - or Sugar.

When Katie Bishop is asked to join an elite Savannah society that guards the city against all the supernatural riffraff that blows into town on a regular basis, she can’t refuse. Especially when the city’s latest threat has targeted her to help it escape from an ancient book it’s been imprisoned in for more than a century. You see, Katie isn’t your average girl - she’s a bit of a beast and owns a tattoo shop at the edge of town. She’s also the only one who can tattoo a magical symbol on the demon’s back that will set it permanently free - and live to tell about it.

Trying to run a business and keep her secrets intact, Katie’s life is complicated enough. The easy thing would be to just apply the damn ink and be done with it, but there’s just one problem - the demon plans to open the crossroads and let all hell break loose. If that happens, the city might as well get used to serving a new master.

With the help of her best friend, Lady Sugar - the queen of Savannah with hoodoo in her blood, and a coven of eclectic witches, they’ll fight to take back their city.

No shrinking violets here. Maybe just a few misfits. Katie Bishop’s clan has plenty of heart and grit, and Sugar will have you rolling!

Typical urban fantasy? Not exactly.

a refreshing look at urban fantasy

I thoroughly enjoyed a refreshing look at urban fantasy. wonderfully narrated with complex yet fledgling characters in this first offering. I hope to grow with them as the series continues.

Funny, Entertaining, & well-read

I truly enjoyed this book, and the whole series. The concept was well thought out and well executed...except for the most fantastical detail.....no tattoo shop opens at 9 am. ;) Seriously, though. It's a great series & is well read by the narrator. As a tattooed, motorcycle riding, book loving woman, this series made me very happy!

Entrancing

A well thought out and greatly executed story. I couldn’t put it down until I had devoured the last word.

Kinda boring

This book had a lot of nonsense and not enough action. I understand doing everyday things gives the book a story but I don’t want to hear about every little detail of how she goes about her day. Because of this it made the story extremely boring and long. I ended up skipping CHAPTERS and still not missing anything. The narrator was good which is great. Otherwise I would have returned the book after chapter 2.

I mean horror where this is nothing but a big fluff horror. horror book I'm sorry It's just really not worth the money you can buy it and read it. I mean it was enjoyable read for the most part but don't expect any action or horror or anything.

Very well written

This was a very well written book. I completely enjoyed it and listened to it all in a day because I couldn’t wait to see what happens next. The narrator did an excellent job with her characters and really made the book more real for me.
