Combat-decorated Marine officer Stuart Scheller speaks out against the debacle of the Afghan pullout as the culmination of a decades-long and still-ongoing betrayal of military members by top leadership, from generals to the commander in chief, comes to light.

Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Scheller was the perfect Marine. Battle tested. A leader. Decorated for valor. Yet when the United States acted like the Keystone Cops in a panicked haphazard exit from Afghanistan for political reasons, Scheller spoke out, and the generals lashed out. In fact, they jailed him to keep him quiet, claiming he lost the "trust and confidence" bestowed upon him by the Marines—when the faith and trust is exactly what our generals and even our commander-in-chief betrayed by exercising such reckless and derelict policies. Now Scheller is free from the shackles of the Marine Corps and can speak his mind. And in Crisis of Command, that he does. He holds our generals' feet to the fire. The same generals who play frivolously with the lives of our service men and women for political gain. The same generals who lied to political leaders to further their own agendas and careers. Stuart Scheller is here to say that the buck stops here. Accountability starts now. It's time to demand accountability and stand up for our military. In this book, Stuart Scheller shows us how.

Although I don’t completely agree with every point, what was said HAD TO BE SAID. This is a wake up call that upper echelon of the military have become politicians and have completely lost sight of the reasons they are in the positions they’re in. There comes a point in the military when Officers and Senior NCO’s have to realize they actually work for their JR members. It’s their obligation to make sure their people are taken care of FIRST! Unfortunately most of these senior leaders are more worried about self preservation and securing their own careers. The military loves to make Americans think it’s a very well oiled machine but those of us who served know too well the constant BS that goes on. WE need to make it clear the military is not here to make Generals and Admirals rich, it’s not here for political social experiments, it exits to crush any entity that threatens our people and democracy. I salute Mr. Scheller for taking a stand!!

Absolutely agree with most of this book

Excellent book. Stu is a courageous and true American. Im not sure I could have made the same sacrifices that he made. His service to our country, like so many others, goes unappreciated by 99% of the people in America.

Accountability is needed now!

LTC Scheller had my support when I first saw him & still does. I believe if people would've stopped to actually listen & hear him & his message things would have ended differently. Unfortunately, a lot of bruised ego's got in the way of active listening. 😕
One of my favorite quotes is, "Post Traumatic Growth". It says it all! Fantastic book! That is if your willing to listen to the truth & sit in the discomfort of knowing we have to do better. Wish you all the best Stu!

It was amazing to hear his side of the story. I have experience those failures first hand and appreciate his courage to do what others couldn't and wouldnt.

A great read and listen. I really do like that LtCol Scheller is honest in that he did not do the right thing legally. his desire to defend himself was tempered by giving his reasoning for his struggle. It is going to be hard for many civilians to understand what he sacrificed.

I retired from the Corps in 2016 after 22 years of service. I know some of the people he has worked for and even served under Gen Berger in 3/8. The funny thing is officers are punished in a harsher model than enlisted are until they attain the rank of Colonel. At this point you are part of the collective and your obedience to that collective is what got you there.

Semper Fi LtCol Scheller as a SNCO I salute your service and wish you fair winds and following seas.

A straight story

This should be mandatory reading in military schools. This highlights a systemic problem in the senior officer ranks in the military.

Great Book!

Semper, some sacrifices aren’t always what they seem like in the movies. Great articulate read, a good way to hear his full story and make your own opinions from there. The events that occurred for this man don’t come as a shock to me. I’m disappointed in the organization I used to be a part of but take pride in our traditions and what we claim to stand for. End the cycle, so that we may go back to being war fighters and not politicians. My heart hurts for this man, not only for the outcome of his professional career but his personal life. I wish him the best in life and hope he has opened the eyes of more Americans with the actions he has taken.

It is evident that the system needs to change. We can no longer allow such a great country to continue down this path.
