Publisher's Summary

Be ready for some action, humor, and mystery in this anthology with short stories. You’ll listen about gangsters, witches, magic potions, interrogations, werewolves, and murder. Several stories have a murder victim, while others are all about theft or robberies. But in many cases, they spark the imagination and make up for a great way to sit back, relax, and read or listen to stories from a completely different world. Most have some kind of unrealistic or supernatural element to it, which adds a little flavor to them.

Get the audiobook now and find yourself in a fantasy world with secrets and disappearances.

Classic mysteries

These detectives and crime stories are fun and light, with a touch of humor. Not so much gore and blood. Really good. Another thing I liked was the surprising turnup of magic every once in a while, which is something that took the stories to a different level.

Good book

I like anthologies like this. This one has about 10 or 11 stories in it (I forgot). The characters vary as much as young witch to a mob boss' assistant who falls for the boss' daughter. Some had a definite twist ending, others were predictable. With combos like these, though, there is always something for everyone. So if you don't like one or two of the stories, you may fall in love with the other 7 or 8. That's just how I see it.

Fun stories

These are pretty fun to listen to. The voices were great, and the descriptions weren't too long.

Amateur

Felt like the writing was amateurish, even though they’re meant to be short stories, each had minimal depth to allow in character investment.

Why the high marks?

This is facile writing at its worst. So repetitive and basic that I wonder if it’s a tool for ESL students or children trying to learn to read.

I have to question Audible’s rating system if a book like this is so highly recommended.

for pre teens

This was more for kids, the ages of preteens perhaps, it just wasn't for my adult self.

Unbearable

These stories were unbearably bad, I couldn't bring myself to listen to all of them. The vocabulary was very limited and the dialogue between characters was laughable. These stories feel like they were written by middle school students and compiled into this book.

Book review

This is a book full of short stories which I thought was gonna be great but there was almost no mystery to the stories, they were very predictable, and it seemed like someone collected these stories from a high school girls only literature class. If the stories wasn’t bad enough the lady narrating the book is extremely cheesy by talking like a little girl (baby talk)! Do not get this!!!! Waste of time and a valuable credit

Corny and aweful

Got to the end of the first story by fast forwarding. It was painful to sit through with an obvious ending. At least I got a good laugh at how bad it was. Who knows maybe all the other stories are amazing but not worth my time to find out.

Worst trash I’ve ever heard.

Don’t know how to describe how awful this is: the trite language and woeful delivery total. rubbish.

Children's writing

Very disappointed with this. I listened to the first story and and part of the second and really haven't the heart to go on. The story was so poorly written, like the listener was of limited intelligence, the characters were thin and the language purile. The reading was so mediocre. Compared with so many great books from audible, I don't know what they were thinking.

Dissapointed

I was expecting to enjoy it but it didn't keep me tied. I was hoping the next story would be better. Not for me.
