Good Lessons; Mispronouncing AI

Lot of good stuff from this book. Roberto provides a different perspective than what I was expecting from a content creators book. There were things in the middle of the book that made me think differently about creators.

Overall I liked it although, I do have to mention 2 things about the AI narrator so these comments are more about the audio version in particular:

1. It is impressive how human the AI narrator is.
2. It unfortunately mispronounces some words especially the word content. It pronounces it like “you are conTENT with the things in your life” rather than the correct “you are a CONtent creator”.

I am a nearly exclusive audio book person so I’m was fine with it. Gave me a few laughs but if you are intolerant to this type of thing I’d recommend the book either kindle or physical.

Valuable content to aspiring creators

I love the information, and expect nothing less from the expert Roberto Blake! Listening has certainly lit a fire under my ass to pull the trigger on my creator journey.

My one caveat is the narration. I support and applaud the use of AI narration, AI is here to stay and will only continue to improve as a valuable tool to support the creative process. However, the tool used here has consistent imperfections that could have just as easily been edited to correct them.

Mainly pronunciation of certain words, the most outstanding one being “content.” The AI pronounces it as content, like, “I am content with my place in the world,” instead of content as in “I am a content creator.” This is specifically an issue given that the book is for content creators, and uses the term quite frequently.

Before I’m labeled a whiner over semantics, I’m simply pointing this out because it pulled me out of my listening experience. The cadence was also a little distracting. It felt very impersonal even though the material is, at times, semi-autobiographical. It lacks that human element and emotion that would draw me into the stories and lessons instead of turning me off to them.

Not that my suggestions make much of a difference, but from a constructive feedback stance, I believe it will help the reading experience considerably if a human narrator is used in a subsequent version of the audiobook. Or—at the very least—an edit to correct mispronunciations and possibly warm up the narration a bit.

Again, the material is valuable, and this book is absolutely worth reading/listening to, just try to stay engaged when the narration messes up. Who knows, maybe it’s just me and my ADHD… 🤷🏼‍♂️
