Publisher's Summary

With the acclaimed Midnight Breed series, New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian has written thrilling novels of electrifying romance and heart-pounding suspense - books in which humans and vampires live tenuously side by side. In Crave the Night, Adrian brings the Breed and its world to the brink of war, where even the deepest passion can shatter into violence.

Born and raised to be an emotionless killing machine, Nathan is one of the most lethal Breed vampires in existence. A key member of the Order - an elite group of warriors charged with protecting both mortals and vampires - Nathan executes each mission with flawless precision and a total lack of mercy. Now he must pursue a powerful, hidden enemy. But Nathan's hard discipline and training are no match for the fierce pull he feels toward a young woman he has no right to desire - a woman of wealth and high social standing who has long been promised to another Breed male, and who may also prove to be the key to rooting out Nathan's elusive quarry.

Jordana lives a life of glittering privilege as a member of a prominent Breed family in Boston. Surrounded by fine things and fawning admirers, Jordana wants for nothing - until she crosses paths with a dark, intense warrior from the Order and finds herself swept into an impulsive, sizzling kiss that neither of them will forget. As much as she tries to deny her deep feelings for Nathan, Jordana cannot resist the craving to be near him, to break through his forbidding walls and see the man he truly is. But getting close to Nathan will thrust Jordana into a treacherous new world, forcing her to risk all she has and all she knows about herself and her past. And loving this seductive man could be the most dangerous temptation of all.

I Can't Believe I Waited So Long....

I can't believe I waited so long to listen to this book....it was AWESOME!

For months, I tried to listening to this book, but could not make it past 10 to 15 minutes. I'm not sure if it was me or the narrating?

So, this past weekend, I decided I was either going to listen to the book or delete it off my device. I put my headphones on, turned on the book and started cleaning the house. WOW, I could NOT turn it off! I actually finished the book in two days!

This story is now one of my FAVORITES in the "Midnight Breed" series.

Hillary does a great job or narrating the story. (I read the other books in the series so I think it took me longer to get used to this one being narrated.)

I absolutely recommend listening to this book especially if you've read the others in the series.

Disappointed

I did not like the narration. The portrayal of the male voices was pretty bad. I had forgotten how much Adrian has deviated from books 1 - 10, even though I did read the 11th. This was all just too disjointed. Wish I hadn't bothered.

Hot hot hot!

Would you consider the audio edition of Crave the Night to be better than the print version?

Not sure. I was not crazy about the audio narrator, as too monotone. The story has a few twists and turns, as well as a relationship that required more emotion in the narration. She made it more boring than exciting.

What did you like best about this story?

The complexity between the evolution of the mating between Nathan and Jordanna. Also, love Jordanna's story.

What three words best describe Hillary Huber’s performance?

Monotone, boring, sleepy.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would not try to make a movie out of this as Hollywood would likely ruin it!

Any additional comments?

Great story, very hot. I liked the print edition way better. A different audio narrator would have improved the audio, yet great story!

Just Gets Better and Better

I'm a Black Dagger Brotherhood girl, but I just discovered this series and really love it. I was a little leary of ttis addition because I have fallen in love with the characters before First Dawn. Well I was not disappointed and as a matter of fact this is my absolute favorite story. Nathan , Gen One Hunter whose never learned how to love or be loved and Jordana, a very special "Breed Mate" whose life has been planned for her. Without her consideration, but for all the right reasons. At the end of he day, they rescue each other and we get our HEA. But in true Lara Adrian fashion, we get a great storyline and so many twists and turns. In addition to the alien breed, which is another fascinating part of this world, we now have a mythical threat/addition that puts a whole new level of WT*!! into the equation.🤷‍♀️ The action is there, the love scenes are so hot I had to stop the book for a breather. Hint: DOM/SUB. Oh Nathan, you naughty naughty Male! It's been awhile since a series has surprised me like this.Love me some Midnight Breed❤❤. I am now on book 14 (binging) and loving it.

Hillary Huber's narration is outstanding. There are so many characters and she gives each of them a distinct voice and personality.

Don't Listen

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book audio is awful. Don't know what happen but the quality sounds like a kindergarten person was talking.

Would you recommend Crave the Night to your friends? Why or why not?

Absolutely not. Audio is terrible

How could the performance have been better?

Fix audio. Reader sounds flat, no inflection.

Amazing book and THE BEST narrator!!!

I love the midnight breed series. But I have shied away from audible, or any other narrated books because the narrators ruin it. I'm sorry but they struggle switching between masculine and feminine voices, plus they just don't sound believable. But this woman, WOW! She is hands down AMAZING! I will definitely be downloading more books narrated by her!!

great story, lousy performance

What did you like about this audiobook?

This is a great addition to the Midnight Breed series but the performance of the reader is so bad it's distracting. Fortunately I'd already read the book when I bought this.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

The eBooks continue to keep my interest in the series, the lacklustre performance of the reader of the audiobooks are a major turnoff however.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

Lara Adrian writes in full flowing picturesque dialogue that draws the reader in - I've enjoyed all her books.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Awful, dreadful - so awful and dreadful it was just a major distraction to my enjoyment of this audiobook. The only positive thing I can say about Harriet Hubler's performance is that she enunciates well. Other than that, she sounds like she's about to fall to sleep either from boredom or a snoot full of pills. Her sleepy, slow style of reading makes both the heroes and heroines sound vapid, which is no mean feat when you consider the nature of the characters! These stores are written as fast paced action/erotic romances. Ms Hublers performance conveys everything BUT those qualities. In short, she ruins the creative works of Lara Adrian's writing. Please, please find someone else to read these works.

Do you have any additional comments?

I shan't bother to buy this series again in audiobook until a new performer is found.
