Publisher's Summary

What if you couldn't remember the worst thing you'd ever done?

When Jed Allen wakes up at a desk in New York City, he has no idea who he is. The evidence around him shows he's a hotshot architect, and a photo in his wallet reveals he has a beautiful girlfriend named Cassie. But when he goes home to seek her help, Cassie is nowhere to be found.

Self-penned notes remind Jed that he's been suffering bouts of amnesia since a car crash nine months ago. As he plays private detective with the facts of his own life, he discovers more and more about his character. But when he finds a bloodied dress in the trunk of his car, amid news reports of a serial killer abducting women from Central Park, Jed has to confront the possibility that his lost memories could contain the darkest secrets imaginable...

Nobody around him has the answers to his questions. Who is the killer? And where has Cassie gone?

A bit predictable...

I have listened to and enjoyed all of Keith Houghton's book, especially the Gabe Quinn series. I personally wish he would continue that series.
Of all his books I have to say this one is probably my least favorite. It's not a bad story but it is predictable. The prologue sets up the book with the protagonist stalking his "girlfriend ". He causes a car accident which causes him to have amnesia, and he witnesses a horrific accident that must have caused her death. Time goes by and he suffers from a form of amnesia that comes and goes. Meanwhile there's a serial killer out there and he gets arrested for the crimes. There's a lot in between , this is the short version. Anyway, did he do it or is he being set up since he doesn't know if he did it or not. But in the meanwhile he's still looking for his girlfriend...
The end of the epilogue is actually quite funny if not a little ominous.

Keeps you on your toes.

What's the truth? Who's the killer? Where's the girl? Just exactly who is Jed? The one with morals and a concience, or the forgotten scum bag?

Fourth book I've thoroughly enjoyed

Keith Houghton's writing style is magnificent. He has been the only author I have read that leaves me toying with the "who done it" at the end; coming up with several scenarios, and challenging me to choose the right one. You won't be disappointed.

Good book

This the kind of story that will grab your attention from the start. The ending was good and left you thinking "I knew it! "

Who Am I?

Unlike the last book I read by Mr Houghton, this one seemed to drag on for a long time. If you want to experience having amnesia, this brings you close to the awful lost feelings. But i.m.h.o. because we're never privy to who Jed is before his amnesia, I wasn't empathetic to his struggle. And I grew tired of his continued monplague s about his identify crisis. I was relieved when it wrapped up & the ending was pretty good. But
It was a slow & boring beginning.

Thoroughly this book

Many books these days jumps from one scenario to another. This book does too but you can actually keep up with it with audible readings.

Confusing

I found this book troubling. I found I was unable to keep up with who the characters were. As an older person, with a poor memory, it was not a good theme for me.

a book you can't stop listening to

the narration is fantastic, Pete put his heart and sole in narrating this book. you can actually here his excitement and zeel in his voice, he loved reading this, but not as much as I loved listening to it.
full of suspense , drama, thought provoking moments. But behind all that is a love story (I don't mean a soppy one) bit one were a woman supports her man. Fantastically written
