Publisher's summary

Chase Marks was anything but a normal guy. Plucky, a high-spirited personality, combined with an assured swagger that would melt any woman. This firefighter and single-dad would gallantly run into danger without a second thought, until he was face-to-face with his neighbor, Beth.

Bethel Estes was painfully shy, overweight, and about as homely as a woman could be–or so she felt. She was keenly aware of the handsome firefighter next door, and that she wasn’t his type in the slightest. When he knocks on her door in the middle of the night, pleading for help to watch his son–how could she say no? And how would he react if she asked him out on a date?

A friend in need can change your life

In Flyboys we met Karen and Emily Marks. In Flirt’s Battalion we get to meet their brother Chase Marks. His first marriage ended in divorce and he is struggling to care for his son Johnny. His next door neighbor Bethel Estes has had a crush on him since she first saw him move into the house next door four years before. Bethel is a kind and supportive neighbor who helps out caring for Johnny whenever he needs her help.
This story gets complicated due to the interaction of Chase’s ex-wife, Honey.
A beautiful and well written story.

Wonderful story

This is the second story in this series. This narration was well done. The characters are well written. Johnny is a precocious boy who helps his father find love with the neighbor next door. Chase is afraid to date due to his ex-wife. Beth has always found Chase as handsome and Johnny as happy. The longing to be a part of their world seems so out of reach.

A touching story

Having read and enjoyed part of the author’s FLYBOYS series, I was anxious to see how this one would turn out. I have to say that even not having read or listened to book 1 , I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.
Four years ago, recently divorced firefighter Chase Marks and his young son Johnny, have moved next door to Bethel/Beth Estes. While Beth is quiet, and shy, Mark is outgoing and goes willingly into a fire .
Their first meeting was less than stellar and since then, even though she was kind to the boy, she stayed away from the family.
Fast forward four years and now when Mark is in desperate need of someone to watch his son, Beth volunteers.
That starts a sort of friendship and a set of events that will lead the listener in a rollercoaster of emotions. Will they find their HEA or in the end, will they go their separate ways?
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
