This fully revised version covers the most recent research and theoretical formulations that introduce and analyze emerging important multicultural topical developments. It examines the concept of "cultural humility" as part of the major characteristics of cultural competence in counselor education and practice; roles of White allies in multicultural counseling and in social justice counseling; and the concept of "minority stress" and its implications in work with marginalized populations. The book also reviews and introduces the most recent research on LGBTQ issues and looks at major research developments in the manifestation, dynamics, and impact of microaggressions.

  • Completely updated with all new research, critical incidents, and case examples
  • Written with two new coauthors who bring fresh and firsthand innovative approaches to CCD

This is a great listen. Very helpful as supplementary learning in my Clinical Counseling program. Echoing other reviews, chapters aren’t titled and it’s really unhelpful if I need to go back to something long after listening, or if I hit a concept in school and want to find that topic in the book.

An accompanying PDF would be great as well.

Best to follow with book for specific tables, diagrams, statistics, and name of chapters
. The book itself was very wordy with all of the case studies, so it was nice to hear someone read it out loud. Voice is clear. It’s 2024 now so this edition might be a bit outdated regarding some information.

Easy to understand

I thank the authors for this audible production of their excellent book, allowing access to the visually impaired. This book is the most informative book on multicultural counseling.

Best book for counselors

I absolutely love the voice of the narrator in this book. I will be looking for more narrations from her. Overall, the book was great and very informative. I learned a lot. Even if you’re not a counseling student, I highly recommend you reading this book.
A negative is that it is easy to get confused regarding chapters since they are numbered very strangely. I would recommend the publisher make adjustments to the chapter numbers.

Narrator is 🔥 must read/listen
