He should have been a nobody, just another poor soul swallowed up and spat out by the crazy tumult of an RPG Apocalypse sweeping the planet.

However, a clerical error, and a little bit of interference by interested parties, resulted in him being gifted with an amazing opportunity in this new world order. An extra powerful build, one not available to the rank and file of humanity.

It does have one teeny-tiny drawback, though. The awesome character build he's gifted does mean his species is changed to something mildly demonic in nature. Which could be somewhat problematic.

Plus, his new class is Dungeon Corsair Captain. As the name suggests he is not supposed to be the hero, the opposite in fact, he is supposed to be the villain. His class demands it.

What will he do?

Deny the opportunity and hope things work out as the world is torn apart, throw himself on the mercy of others. Or roll with it, take the bull by the horns and not just survive the coming cataclysm but thrive.

Torin has never been a quitter and he really doesn't fancy dying. Option two it is.

Can't wait for more

Great story from this author, can't wait to see where it goes. Likable main crew and love the pirate theme

very solid start

this is a solid start to what I hope will be a great series. I love how the author steals clear of the "Nice guy" tropes. The MC is a good man dropped into a helish situation and has to be strong enough not only to survive the new world but the darkness within himself. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Really enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book. I'm looking forward to the next one it drew me in and didn't let me go, and before I knew it, I was at the end credits.

The beginning was a little confusing and kinda slow, but it does pick up nicely after the first few chapters. I'm looking forward to the next book

this book was fantastic. It really gave me all the fun and enjoyment I was missing after the end of the wolf king's layer series. I can't wait for book 2!

Warning: HAREMLIT

Because this wasn't clear in the blurb, I just wanted to make sure others don't miss the fact that this is HAREMLIT.

While the male narrator was okay, the female narrator provided little inflection in her speaking.

The overall story was good, enjoyable but I won't purchase the 2nd book as this is haremlit.

Devan Drake is a genius!

Just over 20 hours of storytelling goodness. This is some of the best non-swashbuckling adventuring I’ve ever seen. The ASI is annoying and funny at the same time. The MC is a good guy that has to be a bad boy in order to succeed. His boat and its core are on their way to being friggin epic. Classes and fights and quotas…oh my!

Seriously though, without giving anything away (my reviews are strictly a NO SPOILER ZONE), this was an exceptional story. Tom North and Faye Bishop both did their thing. They basically added the secret sauce, 11 herbs and spices, and the formula to both well known cola, to make an exceptional story into a fantastic, must have audiobook. Everyone, I mean every character has their own voice and their own personality that comes through that voice. I’ll back this up with Lion mafia characters as an example. Yes, there are leonine capos in this book as a crime family. Devan Drake’s imagination and worldbuilding are vivdly enchanting and thoroughly addictive. This is exactly the kind of storytelling that this genre needs.

I really hope Devan doesn’t see this review for a while because he’s hard at work writing book 2. For everyone else, you should jump on this bandwagon and see why this is now on my favorites list. If you’re on the fence, hop of and spend the credit because it’s well worth it.

Great story, well told

This is very good, I like how the pirate theme works and the main crew are cool. Cannot wait for book two. Change the male narrator he does not fit the MC at all!! Besides which he cannot pronounce one thing about or in “Mitchigan” correctly

It is a fantastic and fun story full of action and adventure, I love the mix of rpg elements with an apocalypse story. the fact that the MC has such a unique class just makes everything better 10 out of 10.
