Publisher's summary

Someone is illegally stealing humans from their home world and cloning them.

For months, we've been hunting this ring of criminals and the end is in sight. I'm separating from my brothers and taking my ship to track down the bad guys. One small problem—Helen insists upon joining me on this dangerous mission.

Helen herself is a clone, created to be an object of beauty. She's not safe if she goes with me, as her kind are coveted all across the universe. But she's not interested in staying safe. She's interested in staying at my side . . . and tempting me to kiss her.

And kef me, is it ever a temptation.

Am I really going to run headlong into danger with the universe's most beguiling female at my side? Am I going to be able to resist her charms?

(I think we all know the answers to those questions.)

Contains mature themes.

adorable but it is a bit too long

I know that other reviews say that the female narrator is annoying, but she captures helen just right. cause helen is naive and adorable. however, it is a bit long and some scenes can be a little jarring. although long it is a nice warp up of the cloning and slave arc.

Funny

Helen is not quite the airhead she was in previous books, but still funny and naive. Storyline was interesting but the book was too long. It was a struggle listening until the end. Narrators did a great job.

That voice…

Love all of these books but the voice in this one killed me… I wish I had just read it and not listened to it.

The Corsair Adventures Continue

I’m thrilled to have gotten this new perspective with Helen and Mathiras! It was interesting to have the female lead as something other than human or human/clone. After the last book, I was curious to see how their story (Helen and Mathiras) had taken such a sharp turn. As usual, Dixon didn’t let me down! Adventure, steam, and new experiences come in spades with this book!

As for the performance/voicing of the characters, I was a little apprehensive about Helen’s narration - but she is supposed to be other. Her voice is sweet and high, as her character description calls for. I think it just took a little getting used to.

All in all, this was a great book and I can’t wait for the next one!

Always Hilarious

I started and stopped this audiobook so many times! I loved the storyline and all the characters but I could not stand Helen’s voice for very long. I’m glad I decided to just deal with it though because I really did enjoy it plus she was hilarious in all her deadly innocence.

It was absolutely hilarious and the best out of all of them!

This is the literally the best out of the whole series. Everyone complained about the voice for Helen but if y’all think about it. The voice actor and Ruby Dixon have written her that way. I love how blunt and practically no filter she has. I listened to this for 2 days and finished it. Absolutely the best one out of all of them! This girl is happy! I wish she did get a pregnancy announcement but that’s okay! That was the only thing I was sad about. Nevertheless, love love love this book!

okay everyone needs to calm down

So many complaints about the female voice actor. Vut I think she portrayed Helen perfectly. yes she sounds a little too giddy and childish. but honestly it captures the character perfectly. I've listened to almost all of Ruby Dixons books and love this series. it connects to almost all the others and is so well written. good characters. just over all one of my most favorite authors. just embrace the voice actor as Helena personality and it isn't bad at all. it is a long book but I ain't complaining. I love a book that takes awhile opposed to 2 hours.

Get the rolling pin out.

Helen is both sweet and slutty at the same time. Sometimes this can be a bit much and other times it is kinda funny as Mathiras is such a stick in the mud. Overall a good book, but not one of my favorites. Narrators are usually good, but this time the female narrator made Helen sound too much like a young girl, I know that is the point as she is supposed to be innocent, but it’s a lot for the whole book, I think I would have enjoyed the book better without the little girl sound.

Good story, if you ignore the female narrator

I'm usually pretty good at being patient and getting used to a voice I don't like so I can enjoy a book. This one was HARD to listen past though. Hollie Jackson does a great job with the rest of the series, but her portrayal of Helen is way too air headed and sing-songy for me. Helen isn't an idiot, she's just naive! I really almost returned this and got it on Kindle to read instead. Mathiras' side saved it for me, and I made it to the end. Decent story and end to the series, but that narration, man. Just no.

A fun expansion of the world

I love how Ruby Dixon’s characters and stories overlap. This book rolls several individuals from other stories together and the narrators do a great job (as always) of portraying their unique personalities. Looking forward to more from this universe!!
