Publisher's Summary

I was starting to think I knew what I was dealing with here at the university best known as Villain Academy. Not so much. But can I really trust a shocking revelation from someone who's proven to be my enemy?

There's no way to answer that without diving in. If my mother is still out there alive, I have to uncover the truth. Even if it means putting myself back in the hands of the mages who've betrayed me before.

The other scions have my back now, with all the trouble that's brought them. How much more will they have to sacrifice before we can find some kind of peace? I'm ready to fight for my newfound life, my family, and the guys I'm falling for...but this battle may bring more casualties than I can bear.

Corrupt Alchemy is the fifth book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance where there'll be no choosing required.

Yes! It's a very good day!

Any day one of these books comes out on audio is a good day, because it's like I'm reuniting with my friends after time away. I just always know I'm going to get an excellent vocal performance by Meg Sylvan and Stephen Dexter, and an even better story. In Corrupt Alchemy, a lot of the drive of the story is focused on hunting down a particular family member that was revealed to possibly be alive at the end of the last book. At the same time, Rory's relationship with the guys are still growing. And as for the guys, they're all dealing the fallout from their actions/decisions in the last book. Rory still struggles with discovering not everything is so black and white and there's good and bad on both sides of the coin here. Really, there's so much going on, but I'm being vague so as not to spoil it. All-in-all, it's business as usual at Royal Villain Academy, and I mean that in the best possible way. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

Changes

Rory and Malcolm's relationship takes a turn for the better in this book. Rory has to handle two major changes in this book. One is good and one is not. This is a series book but this book you could read as a stand alone because everything got recapped in this book. Which as a person reading this as a series I didn't like that part of the book. Big changes are happening and this book kicks them off, it will be interesting to see what happens now.

Love the narration

This series keeps on surprising me. Just when you think things can't get much worse, they do. The scions finally start working together, only to be outplayed by other plot twists. The extent of barons's cruelty is nauseating and left me feeling the same helplessness as the main characters.

The plot is twisted, cruel, unpredictable and I can't help but love it, although I'm on the edge of my seat, biting my nails off because nothing seems to go right. Ugh...

Plot and character development are amazing and the world the author created is expanding with every book.

The narrators of the audiobook are doing an amazing job giving these characters life. The difference between all the characters is subtle but clear and shows off their skills!

The action never stops

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author. My review is voluntary. I had already read and reviewed the ebook. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook and "hearing" my favorite fearmancers.

Another fantastic story to continue the series. Rory and her guys all face personal life-altering situations. Will any of these succeed in breaking the scions' fragile relationship(s) apart? Or will the group just grow stronger in their fight against the corrupt pentacle of barons?

I don't want to ruin the story so I am not going to give any details. If you haven't started the series yet you should and if you have been reading along you will on the edge of your comfy chair. The only bad news is that you will have to wait for the next installment to find out the answers to several heart-stopping questions.

Just keeps getting better and better

I absolutely loved this next book in the series. Rory is working so hard to try to figure out how to stay true to who she is and survive in this fearmancer society where she has power. She keeps growing with each book. I am happy to see Malcom seeing her for who she truly is and understanding just how amazing she is. I am happy to see their relationship depending and her relationships with all the guys growing stronger. I want to kill some of their parents though because damn what they put their children through. Rory might end up having to learn more about that. I can’t wait to find out what her mother is like and what has been happening. I hope Rory continues to draw strength from her guys and stay who she is.

Another amazing story

This picks up without missing a beat from the other book. I just love the interaction between all of the Heirs. While some questions are answered, even more are brought to light. This series just keeps getting more and more intense. I can't wait for the next installment.
And I absolutely love the different narrators, they do such an amazing job with all the different characters.

Book 5

Great narration and nicely paced storyline that I easily listened to in one day. This story is addicting. So much corruption and plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. My only complaint is that these books are too short.

Devoured

I devoured this over Christmas (which is quite a feat since I usually listen when driving to work) because I was so desperate for the next installment and once again, Chase absolutely delivers. Developments between Rory and Malcolm are perfectly paced, there was intrigue and action (I'm still waiting for the arsehole grandparents to strike back and I have been expecting it for 2 books: thanks for keeping me guessing) My one possible complaint is that I'd have preferred a little more heat

A heart gripping story

Wow I finished this in a day. I couldn’t put my earphones down. It picks up where book 4 ended. The question of what happened to Malcom with his father at the end of Book 4. What Lilian told Rory about her mother is it True. Will Jude confront his father about June not being a true Scion . If he does will Jude father want to do away with him. Rory wants to find her birth mother but once they do how will Rory mother state be. You need to listen to this and it will blow your mind

Meg and Stephen performance was unbelievable. How both of them did the characters, it will draw you in and just floor you
