Publisher's summary

From best-selling author Rachael Herron comes another funny and sexy romcom set in the sleepy California town of Cypress Hollow.

Cora has been hurt too many times, and by one man in particular....

"Rachael Herron tells the kinds of stories that make you want to lean in closer." (Erin Bried)

Abandoned by her mother and widowed in her mid-20s, Cora Sylvan has learned the hard way that you should take nothing in life for granted. So everything is planned out to the last detail - from how to run her farm on a shoestring, to how to survive a major earthquake.

Unfortunately there's nothing in those notes to cover the return of the infuriatingly handsome Mac Wildwood, her husband's cousin, the man she loved and lost. And Mac, it seems, has a shattering plan of his own up his sleeve.

Cora Sylvan safeguarded everything - but she didn't protect her heart....

Awful - unfortunately

The story is very boring the narrator isn't very good. I've tried 3 or 4 times to get through it and just can't.

Save your money

What disappointed you about Cora's Heart?

May have been the narrator, but had to fast forward through what I considered way too graphic sex scenes (twice). One description was over 5 minutes. Not my cup of tea,. The narrators voice attempting to do a male's voice made him sound like a sleazy character, which he wasn't.

Has Cora's Heart turned you off from other books in this genre?

Maybe the author and narrator

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Edelman?

I don't know. But I would rather have a female narrator not attempt to do a man's voice.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Boredom

Any additional comments?

Enough said.

Good story/not so good narrator

I guess I will have to buy ebook or hard copy to continue this series. Barbara Edelman ruined this book for me. Sorry Audible.

Small town, Big Hearts

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you love small town romance with fully fleshed-out, living, breathing, flawed characters, you will love Cora's Heart. This book had it all--love, laughs, and some steamy scenes that added to the story. The narrator was wonderful with a rich voice that was soothing and compelling at the same time. I loved this listen and will be looking for more from Rachael Herron.

Narration was very disappointing.

I am hesitant to listen to the next book because this same narrator is reading it. The first three, narrated by Carrinton MacDuffie, were very enjoyable. This narrator made Abigail sound like a hillbilly caricature.

Narrator kills the story

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, but I didn't like the male voices.

What other book might you compare Cora's Heart to and why?

None come to mind.

What three words best describe Barbara Edelman’s performance?

Get new job.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Any additional comments?

The only thing I didn't like about Barbra's performance was her male voices were bad. She made Mac sound like he was in his 70's.

Narration ruined it

The story was eh, but any hope of enjoying this title was lost the moment I hit play. The narration was for me, awful. Ruined any chance of a pleasant listening experience. If you want to finish this series try reading this one.

Didn’t care for the narrator.

I preferred the narrator of the other books in this series. This one gave the characters accents they didn’t have in the other books.
The story was great, I was captivated.

Narrator ruined the story

What didn’t you like about Barbara Edelman’s performance?

The accents of the characters were changed from the other books. I have an accent myself but she made my favorite characters sound ignorant. I wasn't sure by the tone or the voice who was talking. They should have stuck with the other narrator. I m so disappointedl because I had loved this series. Now it will be hard to listen to the last two books.

Any additional comments?

If you start with a narrator finish with the same one, that is what our brains have adapted to.

New narrator

It took a bit to get into this book because the person reading it had changed. It’s a good story I’m just not sure this was the right narrator.
