Publisher's summary

Cooper Cain left California and quit the job he loved after a hostage situation went bad. Years later, he can still hear the screams of the woman he couldn’t save from the stalker who had terrorized her. He hides his pain and failure behind a wall of humor, determined not to let his past ruin his future. Until Kira Winters walks into his life. Fun, flirty, up-for-anything, beautiful Kira who’s resolute to live life on her terms, even though she’s in danger.

Kira Winters is a woman who knows what she wants. After spending 10 years working for an off-the-books team, she no longer hides in the shadows. Her mission with Patheon is complete, and she’s determined to live, to experience everything, to take life and make it her bitch. She’ll accept nothing less. When she sets her sights on the former SWAT officer Cooper Cain, she’s all-in and will stop at nothing to win him over and keep him. But when the team discovers she has a stalker, Coop demands that she do the one thing she cannot—hide.

Cooper’s past eerily mirrors his present. Can he fight his way out of the darkness that threatens to pull him under to keep the woman he loves? Or will he give her up to protect his heart?

Love Kiera and Cooper foreplay banter!

Love Cooper and Kiera romancing without commitment. Working thru grief can hard writing but Susan does it. And when they hooked up it was powerful listening.

I loved so much about this story

My favorite Riley Edwards...well okay I'm not sure I can make that statement (I still don't know how you can possibly just choose one!) but definitely hitting the top for the Z Corps. I loved so much about this story. How it started without the angst of them fighting their attraction and the depth of the relationship. Then add the hilarity that had me laughing out loud. Zane is always a prize in these stories. And oh the emotion. Sooooo much emotion and not just from Cooper and Kira. I love Cooper and I loved him for Kira. A sweet, protective but not overtly controlling of the situation, precious man willing to fight hard for Kira. And he got her. Both had demons they were fighting, but they were so perfect for each other. There is action, plenty of danger, and edge of your seat suspense to keep you on your toes...and heart stopping moments where you just feel hard for all the characters. Another Riley masterpiece. And Sebastian York and Janine Granda's narration is amazing as always.

Combustible Tension!

Cooper and Kira both are sure if they act on this combustible tension between them that it will end and end with their broken hearts each for their own reasons. Cooper and Kira become best friends that skirt the line that they both want to cross but don’t want to cross. When they decide to heat things up and see what happens they are confronted with everything they had been trying to avoid. I absolutely love how these two interact and are being drawn into the family even if they were reluctant. This audio will be a great addition to your library.

Cooper&Kira

I absolutely loved this book, it’s about Cooper who we have all been waiting for and Kira. Kira holds a lot of demons and fears that she blocks due to losing her family and Cooper is just so easy going until Kira is in danger. Zane had a big part with Kira in this book and the scene just about caused a serious ugly cry at that moment. Wow! It’s rare for me to do that in a book. Riley Edwards sure knows how to make you give up that ugly cry, trust me. This is a great book You also have some one line zingers with Zane and the crew that made me laugh out loud. One of my favorites was the scene where it was said “You must’ve been taught that common core math!” Also the condom jokes and making balloons are priceless too.
On another note as I’ve read both the book and audio, I have to admit Sebastian York did a excellent job as the voice for Cooper. Very sexy! I also enjoyed listening to the audio where Zane takes with Kira, I thought it got to me reading it, nope listening to it did.

Did not love this

I love Sebastian and as always his performance was on par. The female narrator is a little new to me and it takes some time getting use to her voice. I don’t know if it was the character or the narrator, but I really disliked the h. Kira comes off as bratty and whiny and so demanding. I live Cooper so his character saved it for me. Riley is Mr go to author, but this will be on my do not relusten list.
