Publisher's Summary

Faced with an overwhelming infestation of living dead on the US mainland, the US Pacific Fleet manages a strategic withdrawal of civilians and supplies. Aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, Dr. Henry Damico advises the remnants of the civilian government and military leadership on how to survive in a world overrun with zombies.

Meanwhile Henry's wife, Kelly, has spent the apocalypse on the front lines, caring for desperate civilians in a clinic defended by the military. When the military network of convoys tasked with retrieving refugees scattered throughout the city begins to break down, Sergeant First Class Carl Harvey must lead the last convoy into San Diego, and the odds are clearly not in his favor....

Starts promising but then shuffles along

What disappointed you about Convoy 19?

The book starts promising and interesting, but then, the inconsistencies start piling up, and I found myself shuffling along, waiting for the book to end. The zombies are inconsistent: sometimes they shuffle and move slowly, sometimes they run and are whirling dirvishes of doom. Sometimes, automatic weapons fire dispatches them easily, and other times, the classic precise head shots are required.

What could Mark Rivett have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Mr. Rivett really needs to do more research into the details that he wants to use in his books. For example, "soldier" is not a universal term for anyone in military uniform. A sergeant in charge is not a "commanding officer." Why would the Chinese Navy want to invade Hawaii in order to establish an island safe zone? Why not any of the number of islands much closer to China (Taiwan, Okinawa, any of the Philippine Islands, etc.? How is the fleet going to get to the Gulf of Mexico since the carrier won't fit through the Panama Canal, and no one would be around to operate the locks anyway?

Have you listened to any of Stephen R. Thorne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Mr. Thorne did a fine job narrating.

Great story!!

Starts 1 yr AFTER the APOC, and leaves out the cause of the whole situation (but maybe left for a prequel or "to be revealed" in another book of the series?)... Hope another installment comes soon... If you enjoy ZA audiobooks, especially when military involvement is a large aspect, then you will enjoy this one... Not ENTIRELY original, but the premise here is original in quite a few aspects... Again, if ur looking for a new ZA or TEOTWAWKI series, this is a good one to get started on...

Overall a good zombie book.

The narrator was pleasant to listen to and did a very good job of bringing you into the story. the story flowed nicely. there is a lot of action. I would have liked to have known more background on the characters. overall a very good listen.

Gripping and Terrifying; Would Make a Great Movie

When a friend told me her boyfriend had written a novel, I checked it out on a whim. I expected something amateurish, but was pleasantly surprised to find a harrowing, gripping tale of horror both visceral and existential. I was very impressed with the author's extensive knowledge of military hardware, procedure, and tactics, and also with the consideration paid to how a zombie apocalypse might actually play out on the world stage.

I was initially uncertain about one major change to the "zombie rules" (namely, that *everyone* who dies, of any cause, will reanimate), but I found this wasn't a hurdle to my enjoyment. The battle scenes remained harrowing, the pathos was real, and the pacing was excellent; I suspect that the author has some experience with writing screenplays. This book would make a great movie.

Antigovernment, antigovernment, antigovernment, with way to foul language

The writer seems to have a beef, with the government. (not that most of us don't!). Some of the language was so foul that it actually detracted from the story.
