Acerca de esta escucha

Are your conversations in Chinese suffering due to a lack of vocabulary? Do you have no idea how to order a meal in Beijing or book a room at a Shanghai hotel?

If your answer to any of the previous questions was "Yes", then this book is for you!

If there’s even been something tougher than learning the grammar rules of a new language, it’s finding the way to speak with other natives in that tongue. Any student knows this – we can try our best at practicing, but you always want to avoid making embarrassing mistakes or not getting your message through correctly.

Until now.

We have compiled over 100 conversational Chinese stories for beginners along with their translations, allowing new Chinese speakers to possess the necessary tools to begin studying how to set a meeting, rent a car, or tell a doctor that they don’t feel well. We’re not wasting time here with conversations that don’t go anywhere: If you want to know how to solve real-life problems (while learning a ton of Chinese along the way), this book is for you!

How conversational Chinese dialogues works:

  • Each new chapter will have a fresh, new story between two people who wish to solve a common, day-to-day issue that you will surely encounter in real life
  • A Chinese (Mandarin) version of the conversation will take place first, followed by an incredibly useful Hanyu Pinyin romanization. This system allows you to fully identify the correct pronunciation of Chinese characters, which are typically tough for non-Chinese speakers to read!
  • Accurate English translations follow each Chinese conversation, providing you with the opportunity to understand everything that has been said
  • A helpful introduction and conclusion that will offer you important strategies, tips and tricks to allow you to get the most out of this learning material

We want you to feel comfortable while learning the tongue; after all, no language should be a barrier for you to travel around the world and expand your social circles!

So, look no further! Pick up your copy of Conversational Chinese Dialogues and start learning Chinese right now!

When it comes to language books, I find that dialogues are more fun to listen to than rules or paragraphs. The conversations were more enjoyable, natural, and entertaining than I had expected, and the multiple speakers would vary their inflections and tones. The dialogues are categorized by difficulty: A1, A2, B1. The main downside of the audiobook format is that it's harder to acquire more vocabulary from listening alone, without checking the PDF. There's quite a period of time between when the dialogues are spoken in Chinese and then English, and I might've forgotten the Chinese word by the time I hear the English translation.

Who knew that conversations can be fun?

Definitely enjoying these audiobooks. I don't have the availability of time or programming to watch Chinese shows, so these dialogues are incredibly helpful.

Loved it! Very natural conversations

The dialogs are based on English conversations translated into Chinese, which could be why the dialogue sometimes sounded strange. The dialogs are better suited for Chinese speakers who want to learn English and Western culture than for English speakers who want to learn the Chinese language and culture. Each dialogue is read in Chinese and then in English. It would have been better to go over a list of non-frequent words for each story, then read each sentence of the story in Chinese, then in English, then in Chinese one more time, and then the whole dialogue in Chinese. It would also have been good to ask multiple-choice questions in Chinese at the end of each story. It seemed pointless to hear the whole dialogue read in English quickly. I couldn't think of the Chinese for the English while listening to the story in English. The speakers sound like they are from Northern China. They would frequently add "ers" to words. While I prefer standard pronunciation, I was okay with listening to the Northern accent because I'm practicing listening to a variety of accents.

I am so happy that I purchased this book. It has helped me practice listing and my vocabulary. The situations are real situations what we face daily and I have been able to use what I learned from this book. I also brought the physical copy to read along and it helps.

I enjoyed this dialogue practice. It's a great review for intermediate learners who may have forgotten some vocab as well as a great starting point for beginners. Just take your time and read the pdf that comes with it!

Wow there is a lot of dialogue in here!

This is a very powerful and fun way to learn Chinese. Lot of stories and I think it was very good.

Chinese stores are fun.

The language was separated so I would listen to the Chinese, then go to the English and forget the Chinese, I’m used to listening to Chinese then the English translation right after that way I can remember better.

This is one of the worst books I’ve ever used. The sentences were direct translations from English to “Chinese.” I say “Chinese” in quotation marks because it was annoyingly bizarre at times. Sometimes it was a mixture of written Chinese and spoken Chinese, and sometimes it used bizarre wording that would only be used in English. Very unnatural. For example 看起來 was never used but instead 看上去兒. And the word 及 was used A LOT… No one uses that word in spoken Chinese. It’s more of a written word. Lots of the words that are used in these conversations will make you look like a fool in places like Taiwan. The book says social media is 社交媒體, but I used this word in a conversation I was having with a friend, and he said that that’s not how it’s said in Taiwan. 社群媒體 is the correct term. Now to the audio. The speakers in the audio have really heavy Mainland Chinese accents. If you’ve studied Chinese before then you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Lots of random 兒s scattered here and there. 聊天兒 / 有趣兒 / 哪兒 / 甜心兒 etc. It’s so annoying! No one wants to learn to speak Chinese with an accent that makes you sound like you’ve a hard boiled egg in your mouth when you speak. I’m only hitting the tip of the iceberg with my complaints. I could most definitely go on. Honestly, I don’t want to waste my time. If you’re going to buy Chinese learning materials, make sure they come from Taiwan. You’ll be much happier with the quality. Trust me.

Wow.... This was awful!
