Publisher's Summary

You will never quite know how many opportunities you have missed by lacking a little self-confidence when you need it most.

Whether it's nailing that job interview, speaking in front of a crowd, or asking that someone on a date. All too often people fall short in these moments as they aren't equipped with the cutting edge confidence to adequately deal with them.

Not anymore.

James Daugherty is an intelligence expert and former CIA spy who specializes in all forms of communication. But there's one thing that underpins everything, confidence. It's what keeps spies alive.

However, he never realized quite how much his intelligence tactics on building general confidence, prepping for specific assignments, or dealing with stressful situations on the fly would help everyday people in civilian life.

Imagine how different your life could be if you were able to operate optimally in every situation.

In this eye-opening and engaging book, Daugherty gives listeners a firsthand look into the trials and tribulations he dealt with in the field as a CIA operative and no-nonsense guide revealing how to:

  • Build general overriding confidence (that lasts)
  • Step-by-step strategies to overcome limiting beliefs
  • Prepping for important "missions" (interviews, meetings, dates) you have prior warning for
  • Positive visualization techniques
  • Body language tips for making a great first impression
  • Breakdown and use of the OODA loop process to efficiently deal with stressful situations
  • Spy tactics to deal with social anxiety on the fly

Meh

This book seemed like a summary of many other books, rather than special insight from a spy.

Not to sure I got what I sighed on for...

Don’t miss insider insights like “lay your clothes out the night before an important meeting the next day.” Where are you going to get advice like that? Book is full of well known tid bits anyone would already know over age 15. Wish there was a gem to share, but I didn’t find it. The writing style is easy listening for all.

Too much overlap between books

Half of the book was a repeat from another of his books. There are some good tidbits, but no real black swans.

Uplifting book..

The idea of this book is that, once completed, your outlook on business will change and your confidence level will rise. The author states that most women are competent or confident, but not both and the end goal is to change that. The book is broken up into the following four sections: Relationships, Reputation, Results and Resilience. All of these “R-words” are values that great leaders, in this case women leaders, should value and strive for. Throughout the book the author addresses each of these topics individually, however, they are all equally important and complement one another.

Highly recommended!!!

What did you love best about Confidence?

From the outside looking in, my health, financial situation, residence and physical functioning are all worse than they have ever been. I should be miserable, right? Actually, I am happier, more loving and understanding of others, and really excited about life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confidence?

This book is jam-packed with meaningful content and has helped (and continues to help) me immeasurably.

Any additional comments?

I learned that I don't have to wait until I'm well, or financially sound, or own my own home, or run a marathon to be happy. It also taught me that I was suffering needlessly, and the good (and bad) news is that I am totally in charge of my own happiness, satisfaction, and bliss.nice one recommended!!!

A book that has great concepts...

Would you consider the audio edition of Confidence to be better than the print version?

Both the version is very Good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confidence?

Especially during this time of year, so often laundry-list style books come out with a lot of nice sounding "to do's" and such.
Most any of us, I suspect, could sit down and write out a platitude-style list of chores & tasks with the mind to help us.

Any additional comments?

It is rare indeed, though, that you are able to experience an author whose advice comes from a "boots on the ground", hands on application of the very ideas/techniques he's recommending. That's what you'll find here.
