Sparks fly...lines blur...and hearts break

Alexander Avery is rich, powerful, and the sexiest man Angeline Hemming has ever laid eyes on: a man like every woman dreams about. Angel is not immune to his sensual and ruthless pursuit, and Alex is intoxicated by the beautiful doctor - overwhelmed with desire like he's never known.

As the profiling case Angel is working on gets more and more dangerous, Alex finds himself filled with unfamiliar panic and emotional turmoil; his need to protect her goes against Angel's adamant insistence that she doesn't need his help. He isn't a man to sit on the sidelines when the woman he's obsessed with is threatened, so he takes control to protect her without telling her of his plans.

Angel's fortitude is shaken when her stalker invades not only her personal life but also those close to her...even when that someone is powerful and seemingly untouchable. Professional ethics insist she keeps the details of her work away from her lover, even as their newfound closeness has her yearning to confide in him. But as Angel's quest to protect her heart from Alex's undeniable pull equals her need to keep him out of a dangerous situation, circumstances dictate a huge decision - which could have detrimental and irreversible consequences for them both.

When danger threatens and jealousy reaches the boiling point, lies will be told, and secrets will be kept.... Even with the best intentions and the most undeniable connection, the deepest of loves will be tested.

Could have been so much better

Same as the first one...interesting concept and interesting narration/performances (am a big ZW fan). BUT way way too much of the same thing...too much description of clothing and name brands (e.g., Rolex Watch actually would have been MORE had it been Piaget; suits -- Armani; shoes Prada and on and on).

DNF. Can't stand Angel

I'm not reading the third book because Alex deserves better than that f**king bitch, Angel. She is such a GD crybaby Alex has been nothing but awesome and she just whines and throws fits like a three year old. If you're looking for a strong female lead, this isn't the book series for you.

If not for Zachary Webber...

If not for Zachary Webber, it would've been a DNF. He was great as always. Jesse Briar's performance was a bit boring.

The story was okay. Angel is supposed to be a doctor of psychology but acts like an immature teenager. Love Alex - he deserves better.

Book 2

What did you love best about Confessions After Dark?

Confessions After Dark is Kahlen Aymes follow up to Angel After Dark. Kahlen has woven such a wonderful story about a headstrong psychologist and a perfect Alpha Businessman.
Alex is all that you want in a male. Strong, possessive, sexy, sweet and an all-around Alpha to the max. Truly, I want one  Angel is a head strong, independent, strong career woman. It’s so wonderful not to have a whiny leading lady. Angel gives as good as she gets as far as Alex is concerned. The narrators performed well.

Loved the dual narration!

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed the narration and it brought the story to life.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the series and loved the dual narration. This was the first book I heard with dual narration and it was very enjoyable.

Too much push and pull

This book was incredibly frustrating and honestly I wanted to DNF it so many times. After finishing Book 1, I thought this series was going to be a refreshing change and had really high hopes that it was going to be amazing.

The downfall of book 2 was what happened to be why I thought book 1 was so amazing. In book 1, I thought wow, we finally have a heroine who is well educated, strong and had such a healthy respect for herself. She is a criminal profiler and a relationship talk show host on the side. We got to see her give advice to women and how to handle their relationships in book 1. Her guidance was smart and helped women to see they needed that same self respect she was displaying in herself. When Angel finally met Alex, a known playboy, I thought she handled him perfectly.

This leads us into book 2 and at the beginning of hers and Alex's relationship and danger that is lurking after Angel. The book just fell apart at the first sign of trouble. Angel pushed Alex away so fast I got whiplash from it. She turned from a smart, intelligent woman, to a someone I didn't recognize. All that wonderful advice she gave to her listeners went out the window. She even admits this to herself.

This whole book, these two are only together maybe 2 or 3 chapters. The rest was fighting. I don't even blame Alex. He was fighting for her, them as a couple and for her safety and all she did was push and treat him like he was the one in the wrong. It got to a point where I felt Alex deserved someone better.

I hate that I'm letting her actions dictate how much I didn't enjoy this book. Everything else about what I loved in Book 1 is stil here in book 2, except Angel. She set a cloud of doom over all of it with the way she handled everything. I did manage to make it to the end to see Angel and Alex finally get back together. This gives me high hopes that book 3 will be more like book 1.

Fantastic!!

Confessions After Dark blew me away! This is book 2 in the After Dark series by Kahlen Aymes. The intensity and passion are kicked up a notch in this book with added suspense.
The narrators only made this book hotter!!

The more I get of Alex, the more I want. In this book we get to see all sides of Alex, hard, soft, emotional and of course alpha!

Angels hard exterior crumbles as she opens herself to Alex.

This is a 5 star must read! I can't wait to see what Kahlen has in store for us in Promises After Dark!

Can't Stand Angel

I am having a hard time finishing this book and not sure if I want to go on to the next. Alex and Angel. I think she's the one who needs psychological help. Whine, bitch and moan ... she just irritates the crap out of me. Alex deserves so much better than her. Alex said it best ... since we've met, all I've done is chase after her and that's not me ... begging has never been in my repertoire. She tells him it's over then gets upset when he doesn't chase her. So far, there's been more fighting than loving. At least it's in AE so I didn't waste any credits.

Even Zachary Webber Couldn't Save This --

Unless they had MORE Zachary Webber. I'm with lots of other readers in that I enjoyed (I say that with side eyes) the first book so had to read on to see what happened. The female protagonist (are we ACTUALLY calling her that???) could not have been any worse, in character and in narration. The woman is whiny ... I don't need a man for help or protection or anything.. and in the next breath .. I want you, I need you (sex wise). The problem I had with this story is that what we get is either fighting, fighting and more fighting with each other and the both working against each other (in the most obvious ways to the readers) or just sex, sex, sex. There is nothing that shows their relationship is based on anything but sex. And he wants to propose to her? Show the readers the foundation of their relationship. I got through the second book, just barely, started the third one with a "here we go again" view to the book. I love him... I'm afraid he'll hurt me .. I need him.....I don't want to be controlled.... blah....blah.....blah. I have no words to describe what a whiny, bratty, stupid, selfish, idiotic character Angel is. For all her supposed education and experience, she sure is dumb, stupid and blind. The Alex character seems like bystander, just reacting to her. The dual narration worked really well between Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt in Lucky Suit (EXCELLENT book, by the way !!!) but with Jesse Briar doing background and asides, just made the wait for Zach to finally speak his 2 or 3 word sentences much of the time, unbearable. I'll finish the series, not because I'm really that into it, but because I've already invested too much time to just let it go. Move on from this one and find something better.

great but the lead woman is a little Annoying LOL!

Overall I love this book! I knew I would love it, romance is always awesome, but the lead female character Angel is really annoying!
The annoying thing is that there are so many women out there that really psych themselves up for more trouble than they need to. There were so many times Alex approved...... in his actions that he was serious about her, that she was different, that he was not going anywhere, but Angel just wouldn't accept it.
I know she is a smart independent woman, but sometimes we are so smart we can really be idiots when it comes to matters of the heart. If Alex were not so determined in such a fighter, he would have given up a long time ago. Of course the readers are happy that he didn't, most of us want a happy ending, but it was really nerve-racking listening to her whining. And just to be clear, I am talking about the character not the narrator!
So, I love the book and I am very excited to hear the next one, but I just wanted to express my frustrations about angel lol.
