Publisher's summary

Nowhere do startling intrigue and enthralling authenticity come together so powerfully as in the Kali O'Brien thrillers from former attorney Jonnie Jacobs. Now the San Francisco lawyer takes on a case that hits too close to home: the murder of her best friend by a serial killer who steps from the very pages of Kali's own past....

When her friend, Anne, misses a dinner engagement, Kali knows that something must be wrong, but nothing could possibly prepare her for the news that Anne's body has been found - strangled and provocatively posed next to a dumpster. When a yellow rose and a poem are sent to Anne's husband, Kali's worst fears are realized.

Kali has seen that particular calling card before. Eight years ago, while working for the district attorney's office, she helped to prosecute a serial killer known as the Bayside Strangler - a man recently executed for his crimes. When Anne's death is followed by another similar one, it raises the possibility that either an innocent man was executed - or a dangerous copycat is on the loose. Either way spells doom for Owen Nelson, the ambitions DA who became famous for putting the Bayside Strangler behind bars - and who is now running for governor of California.

With his political career hanging in the balances, Owen persuades Kali to return to the DA's office for one purpose only: to obtain an airtight conviction. Now, Kali must put aside her grief and delve deeply into the sealed secrets of a case long thought closed, searching for the clue that links the past to the present - and for the deadly mistake that let a killer walk free, waiting for the chance to strike again. When a third body is discovered, Kali realizes that the victims are anything but random. A chilling pattern is emerging, a pattern that points directly to the next target - Kali herself....

Another triumph for Jonnie Jacobs!!!

What made the experience of listening to Cold Justice the most enjoyable?

The suspense made my heart race. So well written.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved when Kali calls the florist shop & the lady said Keating dropped his card. From then on my heart began to race to the end.

Which character – as performed by George Kuch – was your favorite?

Keating was gruff yet tender. I wanted to meet him.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Kali suspected Keating and then when Keating knew Kali suspected him.The emotions were heartfelt for both.

Any additional comments?

Jonnie is right up there with David Baldacci for suspense and character development. Thanks for very little swearing. I really appreciate it. Can't wait for the next book!!!!!"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com."

Justice and Politics

Cold Justice begins with Kali O'Brien investigating her best friend, Anne's murder. Kali already knew when Anne didn't show up for their dinner engagement. When a letter and a rose was sent to Anne's husband, Kali knew it was a signature of a serial killer, Bayside Strangler that she helped prosecuted. Except the fact that the Bayside Strangler has been executed before Anne's murder.

Kali notified her former boss and D.A., Owen Nelsen who is now running for governor of California. For Owen, it would meant disasterous and an end to his political career. When the second and third murdered victims turned up, Kali discovered that each victims are linked to the Bayside Strangler. She has to find out whether this is the work of a copycat or was the wrong man convicted and executed.

Cold Justice has a lot of twists and turns as Kali tried to find the killer. The story will leave readers/listeners guessing if the wrong man was convicted and executed, whether the Bayside Strangler has a partner, or if there is a copycat. Everyone in the story is a suspect and there are reasons to believe that they could possible be the Bayside Strangler. If the readers/listeners pay close attention, it would be a revelation of who is the killer.

The narrator George Kuch provided a good performance narrating Cold Justice. His voice tends to be gruff but then again, Kali is the only female main character in the story.

I was given this book by the author/narrator/publisher via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.

Another great combo by Jacobs and Kuch

Any additional comments?

This was my second audiobook written by Jonnie Jacobs and that was also narrated by George Kuch. This is a great combination with a well written story that is executed wonderfully by the narrator. Even thought the main character is female Kuch does it well. I enjoyed the other Jacobs book (The Only Suspect) and was anxious to listen to this one. I was not disappointed with Cold Justice. I enjoy a crime novel that leaves you guessing to the end. Although I had to wait to the end to have my suspicions confirmed I was able to catch on to the author leading the reader down a path that pointed to the wrong person. This is apparently one book in a series but I was able to listen to this book as a stand-alone with no difficulty. I look forward to more books by Jacobs. an OK read

A nice little read for a vacation. It can be picked up or set aside without the listener
missing anything important. The plot unfolds nicely, the players getting their jobs done - we see a collection of clues, suspects, red herrins and colorful characters all
swirling in a mystery melange. It's simplistic and sonetimes that OK. I enjoyed the thoughts of the last almost victim when she is cornrred by the perp :-)
