Circumstances and the sin of omission

There was a lot going on in this book. A huge list of characters, some who were not really necessary in my opinion. Overall the book held my interest because I wanted to know what happens to little Paige. We have a family of three on a camping trip, where the mother is dealing with unresolved issues from her past. The mother goes off alone to sulk, the father is upset because the wife is being secretive. The child is caught in the middle thinking her parents no longer love each other. Unset, the father yells at the child to go be with her mother. When the mother returns without the daughter, panic sets in . Where is Paige? When the authorities arrive the parents are soon under suspicion. Thus begins the hunt, the investigation, the suspicion and the doubts. Also thrown into the mix is the "monster" from the mom's past who is waiting on dead row to be executed in a few days. How will he play a part in this ? It is well worth the read to find out.

Kept my attention

This audiobook kept me guessing and second-guessing the whole time. I appreciated the fact that this is part of a series but the author ensured that it would be a complete and independent experience if the reader chose not to read the other books in the series.

The narrator was very good as well.

A new addiction

I loved the nonstop action and excitement with many twists and turns. It got so I just wanted to sit and listen and do nothing. Finally I blue toothed my iPhone to my tap and tied my tap to my waist so every word was clear and nothing missed. Great for all ages and excitement without sex and constant swearing. Have bought 5 more of his books and am currently really enjoying "Vengeance Road" playing on my tap tied to my waist and managing to get things done around my home.

excellent

This was a very thrilling novel. Any parent knows the fear of losing a child and the author did a very good job relaying the emotional roller coaster of emotions. The character development was very good and the narrator did an excellent job with the various character voices. It was non stop thrills!! I look forward to listening to more books from this author!!

Exciting story of a missing child

A girl goes missing from her family's campsite. Her parents had been arguing and not watching her.
A man is on death row for the murder of another girl many years prior.
The story unfolds and we don't know who did what.
Well written and well narrated. I will look for more by this author and narrator.

WOW!! Absolutely terrific!

Cold Fear, first released in 2001, is the second novel the reporter Tom Reed and cop Walt Sadowski five novel suspense mystery series. All five of the novels are among the best suspense mystery/thrillers I have ever read! The publisher's summary is the perfect setup for this novel so I will not add to it. Author Rick Mofina has a rare talent for building suspense almost to a breaking point. Narrator Christian Rummel performs superbly.

Cold Fear along with the other four novels in the Tom Reed and Walt Sadowski series have my highest possible recommendation. So do the two novels in Rick Mofina's Jason Wade series. (The third novel in the Jason Wade series, titled The Perfect Grave, will be released at Audible in two days.)

great story, great writing!

Good story, great character development. Narration was good. just a bit weak on the ending, but I'd recommend, and am looking forward to the next book in the series, as well as any other Rick Mofina books I can get my hands on.

FBI plus Police plus Psrk Rangers

I struggled initially as a lot of characters being introduced and each chapter you were listening to a different part of the story. I hung in there and was glad I did, coping with all the twists and turns.
