Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy are trapped in a castle with twenty other Austen characters… and the bodies are starting to pile up….

Elizabeth Bennet is asked to accompany Sir Edward Gardiner on a journey to Wales, though he has been vague in explaining their purpose. When she arrives at Clwyd Castle, she meets new friends and an old nemesis, as well as many new companions just as secretive as Sir Edward.

When their charming host announces his plan to free his guests from the burden of blackmail at his father’s hands, good intentions quickly lead to an increasingly grim situation — and then the murders begin.
Elizabeth must decide who to trust, and Mr. Darcy quickly proves to be amongst the few people she can rely on when the castle is locked down and the murderer strikes again. And again.

Alliances form and allegiances are tested, and Elizabeth, Mr. Darcy, and those they trust are forced to take matters into their own hands, putting their lives at risk to expose the truth in the nick of time.

Madcap mashup of Austen and Clue!

Loved the fantastic mashup of characters from various Austen books to form the most murderous house parties in history!

Bamber has outdone herself again.

Really fun gothic story with all the books represented. And unsurprisingly some have changed a great deal in the most interesting way. And wow, the body count! I loved it.

She’s taken several famous old movies and books and brought us a closed inescapable spooky old castle with all the characters invited for a house party not knowing why they were really gathered. They get their answer immediately. But they all have to face their secrets and their blackmailer. Woo!

Lots of side stories as you’d expect. Some really eye opening secrets come to light right away. Any more and I will spoil it. Just get it and enjoy!

JAFF & Clue!

Jayne Bamber is queen of JAFF mashups! In this variation, she takes some characters from all of Jane Austen’s stories throws them together in a tale of blackmail and murder mystery as they are all locked in a castle. Several times I kept thinking on the game, Clue, and how the rooms and the weapons and the characters all work together. It was lots of fun to read. Several characters are definitely changed from canon and some people may not be comfortable with those changes. But Darcy’s devotion to Elizabeth shines through. This hits quite a few different tropes that I refuse to share as it would spoil the outcome from the mystery. For the audiobook, Benjamin Fife narrated it wonderfully.

Slow, dull. Also, should have been marked LGBT.

I don't enjoy listening to this narrator. All of his female voices sound like a high-pitched Katharine Hepburn. I bought the book anyway because I thought the mystery sounded like a fun twist, but honestly I didn't even make it halfway. it's just so boring.
