Story
The year 1996 was the one that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at 16 to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind...until she met Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. Handsome, genuine, and newly admitted to West Point, Bryce showed her how much there was to love about the wind-swept beach town - and introduced her to photography, a passion that would define the rest of her life. By 2019, Maggie is a renowned travel photographer.

What do you wish for most? It's a question that Oswald, Sarah, and Millie think they know the answer to. Oswald wishes his summer wasn't so boring, Sarah wishes to be beautiful, and Millie wishes she could just disappear from the face of the earth. But in the twisted world of Five Nights at Freddy's, their hearts' deepest desires have an unexpected cost. In this volume, horror master Scott Cawthon spins three sinister novella-length stories from different corners of his series' canon.

Elizabeth Berg’s father was an Army veteran who was a tough man in every way but one: He showed a great deal of love and tenderness to his wife. Berg describes her parents’ marriage as a romance that lasted for nearly 70 years; she grew up watching her father kiss her mother upon leaving home, and kiss her again the instant he came back. His idea of when he should spend time away from her was never. But then her father developed Alzheimer’s disease, and her parents were forced to leave the home they loved and move into a facility that could offer them help.

One of my childhood favorites holds up
I've been avoiding this one for a while because I didn't want to cry.
Claudia's stages of grief was well done and while heartbreaking, a good story for kids to learn about the topic.
The subplot with Claudia and Mary Anne teaching an art class was well done and a good balance.
I felt so sad for Corey, feeling abandoned by her parents. I was glad when Claudia (politely) told her mom off.
And Kristy gave some great advice about Claudia and Corey's friendship as Claudia is grieving.
There was one moment of comic relief when the BSC was remembering the first time Mimi tried pizza for the first time.
But I did cry a few times and this one is one of my favorite of the series.
5 out of 5 Portraits of Mimi.

I lost my Nanna in 2019 so I know how Claudia feels. I know we both miss our grandmothers very much. Poor Claudia. I understand how she feels. That’s why I chose this rating. I love how this is a book that I can relate to. I’d recommend this to anyone who has just lost a grandparent that they’re very close to.
