Publisher's Summary
City of Bones Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*
On New Year's Day, a dog finds a bone in the Hollywood Hills - and unearths a murder committed more than 20 years earlier. It's a cold case, but for Detective Harry Bosch, it stirs up memories of his childhood as an orphan. He can't let it go. As the investigation takes Bosch deeper into the past, a beautiful rookie cop brings him alive in the present. No official warning can break them apart - or prepare Bosch for the explosions when the case takes a few hard turns. Suddenly all of LA is in an uproar, and Bosch, fighting to keep control, is driven to the brink of an unimaginable decision.
*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Changed the narrator and changed the entire series
I absolutely hate when an author, for whatever reason changes al well known narrator after so many books in a series. Harry Bosch is a man in his mid to late fifties. This narrator sounded way to young, and often sounded female. Harry has always had a somewhat deep and often harsh voice. Also this narrator did a terrible job at differentiating between characters. I will never buy another book in this series again unless they bring back the original narrator. Just this week another author i live did the same thing with the ong established Michael Bennett series. We pay for your audio books and deserve more than the poor quality narrators who have ruined two great series.

Great book but...
Loved the story. Have read all the Bosch books. I thought the narrator did a good job. Would have given it 5 stars but the background music and sounds were extremely annoying and distracting. I listened to a lot of it in my car and several times thought my car was making a weird noise until I realized that it was random noises from the book. Could definitely have done without the background soundtrack.

ENJOYABLE, INTELLIGENT & ENTERTAINING!
This is my first Michael Connelly book. I love whodunnits! I really picked a winner with this one. Peter J. Fernandez is now one of my favorite narrators. This book was a smooth listen because of Fernandez’ excellent portrayal of Detective Harry. The “musical/sound effects called “Booktrack Edition” was very distracting for me & really added nothing to the storyline or performance. I could have done without it. This books storyline & characters were woven together so nicely. I listened to it STRAIGHT THROUGH! Forget meals, forget housework, I couldn’t pull myself away from this one. The main character, Harry, became almost a real person in my imagination & I found him so likable that I will miss him. He is a law officer with true integrity. This is a really good listen & time well spent. It was worth a credit. I will listen to it again someday. This book is Five Star Worthy. Great writing, great narration & a perfect escape from my mundane life!

Booktrack fail
Booktrack, background music to give a movie feel to the book… except in this case it’s random musical sounds constantly being played in the background. Some of the sounds are like a crap relaxation track and some like the gentle waking alarm that you set on your phone believing it will make mornings brighter, which in reality, like this Booktrack, become quickly annoying…

What's the point of the silly music?
I love Michael Connelly stories. I'm sure this is as good as ever. But completely ruined for me by the addition of music - the Booktrack Edition. What's the point? When Bosch is climbing up from Wonderland Avenue, I want to picture myself there, with him, not have annoying tinkling piano music to distract. Please, Audible, release this in a non-Bookrack Edition. I'm returning after only 6 chapters.
