Publisher's Summary

In Citizen K-9, best-selling author David Rosenfelt masterfully blends mystery with dogs and humor to create an investigative team that listeners will be rooting for book after book.

The Paterson Police Department has created a cold case division, and they want to hire the private investigators known as the K Team to look into the crimes. After all, Corey Douglas and his K-9 partner, German shepherd Simon Garfunkel, recently retired from the force. Plus, another K Team member, Laurie Collins, used to be a cop as well.

Their first cold case hits home for the K Team. A decade ago, at Laurie's 10th high school reunion, two of their friends simply…vanished. At the time Laurie had just left the force, and Corey was in a different department, so they had no choice but to watch from the sidelines. With no leads, the case went cold.

As the team starts to delve deeper into the events leading up to that night - reopening old wounds along the way - the pieces start to come together. But someone wants to stop them from uncovering the truth behind the disappearance, by any means necessary.

Not In Andy Carpenter's League

What would you get if you took one of David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter novels and removed all the humor, wise-crackery, energy and wit and gave it to to someone with a boring, monotonous voice to narrate? Unfortunately you would get Citizen K-9. This venture into the Andy Carpenter universe is all cardboard pizza and watered down beer, compared to the epicurean delights of the original Andy Carpenter novels.

Corey Douglas is nowhere near as interesting as our beloved Andy and makes for a reading that borders on being tedious. Fortunately, this tale is mercifully over quickly and we can get back to anticipating the arrival of two brand new Andy Carpenter adventures this year.

Waste of time

Ridiculous motivation. Really disappointing. Kept hoping for a sensible story. Never got one. Skip it!

This series keeps getting better

The main character in this series has grown on me. I am a devoted fan of the author’s Andy Carpenter series and originally found this main character Cory a little too much like the standard macho self absorbed leading man in many mysteries. In this book we find a much more likable man.
Cory’s wonderful partner Simon is here as are the various interesting and engaging characters from the Andy Carpenter books and previous K9 stories.
I look forward to more adventures with the K team.

Enjoyed after all

I really was held back a little for a while because I was disappointed that the dogs did not have more to do with the story however by the end I was free or he did go along very well and was enjoyable for the mystery characters are.

Love the story and the narrator!!

This book has made my love for the Andy Carpenter series grow three sizes larger ❤️❤️❤️ - love the spin off and the narrator is amazing. My new favorite thing is to seek out stories he has shared his voice on!

This book has it all

Suspense, humor, a dash of romance, this book is smashingly clever. Twists and turns, but all logically investigated. Original premise.
Masterfully read.

Gun Simon Gun

The 3rd book in the Andy Carpenter universe ie Patterson, Eastside & Asbury Parks New Jersey & the combination of mystery, dogs, and tracking down bad guys. These K-Team books are not as good as the Andy C books imo as Cory Douglas is nowhere near as amusing and entertaining as Andy, but I still enjoy - the tone, (the vibe ??) the plots, and the overlapping characters.
