Publisher's summary

In this compelling thriller from best-selling author of Wall of Silence, she thought she was the perfect mother - until the new neighbours moved in.

Emma and Dele’s dreams came true nine years ago when they adopted their daughter, Isla. It felt like fate, like they were meant to find each other, and now they’re living the life they always wanted. But then one day a new family moves into Forest Grove - and Emma can’t shake the chilling feeling that the wife looks just like Isla’s birth mother.

Emma tells herself that this sophisticated stranger can’t possibly be the troubled woman she remembers from the adoption. But as they get to know each other and it becomes clear that Tatjana has a special interest in Isla, her suspicions grow.

When small things start to go wrong and her parenting abilities are brought into question, Emma feels undermined, turning to her sister Harriet for support. But things only spiral further when secrets from her past suddenly resurface.

With rumours swirling, Emma begins to doubt herself. Could Tatjana be Isla’s birth mother? And, with everything that’s happening, is Emma the right person to be raising her daughter at all?

Just a normal little suspense story

Too much revealed to the reader upfront. Thought that Emma should have figured it out earlier.

Nerve racking thriller!

I was getting frustrated with this book when nobody was believing the protagonist. The more the story went on the more that was revealed as to what the full story. It works it’s way up to a great plot and the unexpected outcome! The narrator’s did a great job also!

Wow [and not in the best way]

Honestly, I stopped this book twice due to how it made me feel as an adoptive mother, the only reason I finished it is because I am OCD with things that come in a series and have to finish what I start. I feel like day-by-day we have to take things with a grain of salt; so when reading a book that refers to the adoptive mother as "fake mommy" and talks about the biological dad wanting to assault to the point of murder the parents the child has known as "mom and dad" and to add a little more to this, it really is cringe worthy every time they used the word, "snowflake." The performance was great with the exception of the male parts.

Good read

The story was well written and kept me captivated all the way. I felt both main characters sounded to simular. it might of came across better if the killer was thinking instead talking to his daughter the whole time.

Terrible Ending

This book leads and builds up to something you want to believe and in the last 30 minutes or so, it DROPS THE ENTIRE BALL. it could've been WAAAY better than what was given. I liked the storyline but they need to redo the ending.
