The warmth of the Christmas season is condensed into this single collection that will rekindle your Christmas memories. Who doesn't remember Christmas at Grandma's? The living room aglow with family and friends, the kitchen like a factory of sweet aromas, the relatives everywhere! Donald Davis captures the spirit of Christmas as seen through the eyes of a child in these stories: "Christmas in Sulpher Springs", "The Children's Christmas Party", "The Year My Brother Almost Died", and "The Red Scooters."©1994 Donald Davis (P)1994 August House Publishers, Inc. Editorial reviews

From the delightfully entertaining delivery to the works themselves, nostalgia permeates these charming stories of bygone Christmases in the American South. Adding to the atmosphere are lovely piano interludes between each short work. Storyteller Donald Davis's accent and delivery enhance his fine writing. The word "squeak" is most satisfactorily pronounced, just as we imagine it should be. Listeners will laugh out loud when a child playing a sheep in the Nativity play utters "waa, waa, waa" so convincingly that his proud grandma brags that little Junior got his lines down perfectly. Add this sweet confection to your Christmas listening plans.

I first read this story in the novel Listening for the Crack of Dawn, and saw it here on audible. I knew my kids would love listening to this Christmas collection, and I was not wrong. Love Donald Davis’s stories. Now a Christmas tradition to listen in the car this time of year.
