Broken Bones is a double set of double stories. The first set is made up of a story Davis's grandmother told about the time his mother broke her arm - twice! The second story in the first set is about how his little brother's collarbone was broken - twice! It is about how trouble is genetic in families.

The second set of stories concerns Davis' neighbors, the Leatherwoods, and explains what happens when two big brothers team up against two little brothers. It also tells us that fathers are always smarter than their sons!

Reseñas editoriales

These four stories range from solid to pretty close to great. Donald Davis is a masterful storyteller. He blends a leisurely pace with a Southern accent to evoke the feel of bygone days when there was all the time in the world to listen to a story. The details about his childhood pranks clearly still live for him in his heart (more even than in memory), and his affection for old friends and his family is evident. While some of the stories are so long (twenty minutes plus) that children's attention might waver, the content of all Davis's stories is family friendly.

For anyone who loves good old fashioned stories, you can't go wrong with Donald Davis. Each of his "books" are about an hour in length and each focus on a specific topic. This one tells some stories of his growing up years and the ornery things that they got into.
Very cute.
