Holiday Romance

Christmas Wreath Magic by Dawn Corbett is a Holiday Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Christy Sassmen.

This is the first book of Dawn’s that I have read. I liked that she brought in a bit of fantasy with this Holiday Romance. I also enjoyed the aspect of the 12 days of Christmas.

Christy is a new narrator for me. I had a hard with the narration on this book. I am not sure if it was the writing or the narrator. But I noticed in each chapter it would switch between Cat and Jett’s point of view. The narrator didn’t leave much of a pause in-between switching to the other character so I had to really focus on the story. I also noticed throughout the story a few spots where a phrase was repeated but not enough to distract from the storyline.

The narration was really slow to me so I changed the speed to 1.25 – 1.5.

12 days of magic

I love Christmas love stories, and this one held a couple of my favorite tropes. A little Christmas magic is always in order, and we get that with Jett, better known as the Grinch. Jett is the one that hates holidays, and his mother gives him the wreath, within the 12 days of Christmas. I loved hearing the little chants this wreath had to offer, always a little advice and the search for a true love. Cat is home to help with her family decorations, and is always in search of her prince. Will these two find their way to each other? It's a sweet and alluring romance to make you smile and get into the holiday spirit with love. Narrated by Christy Sassmen, the holidays just got a little brighter.

Nice Christmas Romance

I enjoyed listening to this short Christmas story. The inclusion of the bit of fantasy was a nice touch with its surprise aspect. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Healing

This was a fanciful Christmas tale promoting beliefs, love, and reopening hearts. Old hurts heal to allow love to bloom again in Jett's heart. I liked seeing Jett change and grow through the story and find love again. The narrator was okay, but often repeated phrases throughout the story. I voluntarily listened to this and am giving an honest review.

Solid 3.5 stars

Did the story keep me engaged: was slow to start but picked up pace.
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: not really
Would I listen to it again: there are other's i'd listen to before it, but I wouldn't not listen to it again.

I love Christmas stories and this was an interesting and entertaining take on the usual "He needs to find his love" plot, ran at an easy pace and had good characters, but it was just missing that "something" to make me really connect to the characters and make it an annual Christmas listen for me.

Christy Sassmen is a new to me narrator, She did a reasonable job at giving each character a distinct voice and the emotions and intonations were all there adding to the audio experience,

I did find the audio a little slow, but that could have been the device I was listening to it on, once i nudged the speed up to 1.25 it was much better. There were also a couple of duplicate sentences that need editing out, but they weren't enough to pull me from the story.

Meh

Could've been ok I didn't make it all the way
Narration was terrible a lot of repeat and bad in dialect and who was talking at one time
I felt as though I didn't know which sene was which bc of lack of or improper pauses ughhh
Ok book wise it could have been ok but just could not get passed the narration. However there wasn't really a plot or story build it was what it was short and confusing
