Dr. William Glasser offers a new psychology that, if practiced, could reverse our widespread inability to get along with one another, an inability that is the source of almost all unhappiness.

For progress in human relationships, he explains that we must give up the punishing, relationship–destroying external control psychology. For example, if you are in an unhappy relationship right now, he proposes that one or both of you could be using external control psychology on the other. He goes further. And suggests that misery is always related to a current unsatisfying relationship. Contrary to what you may believe, your troubles are always now, never in the past. No one can change what happened yesterday.

The reading of this book was wonderful. I really enjoyed the entire process. This in my mind is no doubt the absolute best self help book I have ever come across. The entire idea is about putting everything back in your own control. I’m looking forward to finding similar types of books and readings to learn more.

This book was recommended by our kids therapist and it has really helped our family put things into consideration.

The ideas contained in this work are exceptional in so many ways. The audio book does not do justice in my opinion to the written form.

Let me also note that the last section of this book on educational theory stemming from Choice Theory was a let down. Everything up to that point was full of insights. Everything after that point, not so much. Just one man's opinion!

Choice Theory is exceptional in written form

First of all I’m a psychologist in training so I bought this book for practical reasons. Choice theory and reality therapy can be a little hard to swallow but Glasser shows us great vignettes of therapy sessions that makes us think and understand his theory. Overall it was a good book and the theory is pretty great. The narrator was superb! He changes voices in the vignettes and dramatized the therapy session.

Good book, good theory, great narration!
