Publisher's summary

Winter has descended on Hawthorne Hollow like a chilly blanket, and all Scout Randall wants to do with her days is snuggle in bed with her gas station chicken and wait for spring to arrive.

Nothing in her life ever goes the way she planned, however.

There are gods afoot, as if Scout didn’t have enough to deal with. The Nordic goddess Skadi is in town, and she has something specific on her mind.

With the new lamia apex down for the count—whether she’ll survive her ultimate transition, nobody can say—Scout thinks she has some breathing room to get to know the family that’s only recently come to town. Instead, she’s got a god to deal with, and Skadi means business.

Scout’s magic is ever-evolving but is she strong enough to face a god?

When another god arrives hellbent on fighting it out with the first god, Scout thinks things can’t get worse. She’s wrong. Things can always get worse.A god fight is not what Scout was anticipating it. It’s upon her, though. Worse, it seems one of the gods might be partnering with the lamia apex with domination on their minds. What does that mean? An end for them all.Scout has been reticent about facing her new reality. She’s out of time, though. She either has to agree to take on the mantle of the pixie apex, or Hawthorne Hollow—and ultimately the world—will fall into ruin. It’s time for a war. Is Scout ready?

Good installment

Love the Poet interaction except Kade is the whiniest of the whiny babies. Not a fan of him.

Love when other characters cross over. Loved the new meeting (won’t spoil it), but wish we saw more of the family conversation. Those two have a lot in common.

Scout was a bit whiny in this. Hunter is always whiny. Love Gunner. He is a great partner. He lets Scout be Scout.

Cannot wait to see how this ends up.

Another winner

Amanda M. Lee has crafted another great installment in her Spell’s Angels Cozy Mystery series. All the characters we’ve grown to love are present as well as a few new ones.
Meghan Kelly, as always gave a standout performance as she breathed life into the storyline and gave each character their own distinct voice.
I highly recommend this book/audiobooks to cozy mystery fans.

Different

This books sets up the big fight between Scout and Bonnie. While this is a good book, it's my least favorite in the series. I'm over Scout's family dynamics. At this point, she needs to put on her big girl panties and have a conversation with her people. The other part of the plot is the storyline involving Norse gods. It all works out in the end and sets things up nicely for the next book.

Good, but more of the same...

I love Amanda Lee's book series. I've read all of them and always look forward to the next in the series. That being said the latest book about Scout is more of the same. Two things stand out: 1) The constant whining and angst about her parents including everyone's need to bring it up, say it's okay, blah, blah, blah... 2) These "strong" men are such weak ninnies. Sheesh, they couldn't be more two dimensional. , I've always loved Ms. Lee's books, but no strong woman wants a sycophantic puppy dog as a boyfriend/husband. I felt like the story could have been culled into half the size it was. A whole lot of same. Hopefully, the next book will be better.
