Publisher's summary

There is a special bond between mothers and their sons, and it never goes away. This book contains some of the best stories and poems from Chicken Soup's library honoring that lifelong relationship between mothers and their male offspring.

These heartfelt and loving stories, written by mothers, grandmothers, and sons, about each other, span generations and show how the mother-son bond transcends time. Some of these stories will make listeners laugh and some will make them cry, but they all will warm their hearts and remind them of the things they love about each other.

In tears through at least half the book!

What disappointed you about Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms and Sons - 34 Stories about Raising Boys, Being a Sport, Grieving and Peace, and Single-Minded Devotion?

Well, I liked the uplifting stories and although I know reality isn't always fun, I read this book for a fun happy read and felt that a majority of the book especially the longer stories were very sad. I know inspiration is found through many walks of life but, reading about a fun fishing experience and how mom/son bond is cool. Reading about how a single mom works hard to care for her son and how they have a super solid relationship in the future is also great. But, reading multiple stories of children dying of cancer, murder, and the like were much longer and terribly upsetting. I know I could have just quit reading but, I had to see how this ended and now that I have and lost tons of sleep last night crying and being so upset I am well aware of my review to everyone I know who may be interested in the book. Long story short... Some is fun and inspiring but, the parts that are sorrowful are over the top. and if you want to cry its a great read. Not what I was looking for.
