fun and light historical novel

I am enjoying the Welsh accent and the stories of my beloved Wales! Mystery and romance is do e well.

Such a great story full of history and intrigue. Murder and underhanded schemes cannot be hidden for long from our hero and heroine. Great narration

I never thought I’d find an author to fill the void that Sharon Penman left, but I think Sarah Woodbury has assumed that role for me! Thank you!
The story sticks to historical background. It doesn’t embellish on gruesome excesses. It is intelligent and the characters are credible. There is humanity in the tales. The writer doesn’t lean on methodical descriptions of medieval life: foods, customs … or gratuitous sex scenes …which I greatly appreciate! The romance still exists loud and clear. The story is engaging as are the characters. I have come to find some respect for King Edward…and even Queen Eleanor. I never thought I would. I adored Here Be Dragons and from then Prince Llewelyn has always been an ideal Royal, and a heroic and romantic figure. I loved the Welsh accent and the addition of Welsh words and customs. I’m learning it on Duolingo so it’s fun to see if I’ve progressed.

I have just begun reading Sarah’s books and I’m on to the next with a voracious appetite. I love medieval Welsh history! I hope a good production company, like the one that did Cadfael, produce her stories as a series.
