Publisher's Summary

Jack's a retired ex-cop from New York, seeking the simple life in Cherringham. Sarah's a Web designer who's moved back to the village find herself. But their lives are anything but quiet as the two team up to solve Cherringham's criminal mysteries. This compilation contains episodes 13 - 15:

A Lesson in Murder:
When Jack and Sarah are called in to investigate mysterious pranks at Cherringham Girls School, it seems at first that it might be the work of a few mean pupils with a grudge. But things quickly turn serious when a popular teacher meets a sudden, violent death.

The Secret of Combe Castle:
When the penniless FitzHenrys find themselves victims of a threatening campaign to oust them from their ancestral home, Jack and Sarah are called in to track down the culprit. Soon they discover that truth is often stranger than fiction, and in Combe Castle things do indeed go bump in the night...

A Fatal Fall:
Dylan McCabe - a labourer on a rushed Cherringham building project - has been complaining about the site's lack of safety. When he's discovered dead after a fall, it seems that Dylan's own warnings were all too true. Jack and Sarah get involved, and suddenly what looks like an accident, becomes a case of cold-blooded murder.

Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham. The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley".

More Please!

Any additional comments?

I am loving this gentle series of very good mysteries, excellently narrated by Neil Dudgeon, although this would be a perfect choice for both a male and a female narrator.

Perfect!

I love this Cherringham Cosy series! After getting bored with AR and HB ( wish these writers would let there characters grow! ) it was a relief to stumble on to this series. Good characters, straightforward storylines and of course a "cosy" atmosphere that keeps everything on the gentle side of murder mysteries.
Love the narration and music! Keep them coming. Also, thanks for the 3 story format, while each story is short, the compilation format gives the listener a good bite out of the series. Look forward to more of Jack and Sarah!!!!

Now What!

I've recently finished this book. I checked the listing and discovered there are no more titles available in English!

I've enjoyed this series very much. I like the setting, the characters and the stories. They are perfect for light, entertaining listening.

I'll keep checking, hoping for new collections.

Three more great stories

Any additional comments?

I have all of the series of stories that have been translated into English thus far. These three are just as good as all the others. They are all real who dunnits that I enjoyed very much. Credible stories with interesting characters, and for those who think it is important little swearing and no graphic descriptions of violence. They do not rely on such things to make them good. Instead they use good old fashioned brilliant writing. As always Mr Dudgeons narration and characterisations are brilliant. He gets the American accent of Jack just right and you can identify all the characters by the different voices he uses. I can't wait for the next in the series to be released.

Well-written comfort reading.

If you like uncomplicated murder mysteries solved by characters that grow on you with each short story, garnished with a bit of white humour, this series is for you. I am perfectly content with the plots not being the most original I've ever read, and I really appreciate the fact that they are properly written by what seems like experienced writers. These days a well-crafted paragraph, a balanced descripition of the right length or a scene free of continuity errors are not to be easily dismissed.

Cosy in all the right places.

This is a perfect book to relax to: Engaging enough to not be mere white noise but not dark enough to trouble your mind. The partnership of Sarah and Jack is now long standing and platonic so that the listener is not bothered by romantic angst. In addition to this, Sarah and Jack both bring different strengths to the table, so on all counts this a partnership in the proper sense of the word and it’s great to see a buck in the stereotypes even with this supposedly ‘light’ fiction. The narrator is not only completely suited to this genre (and very experienced within in) but has a beautiful timbre, too.

Not bad

I read these short and gentle stories in between my usual choices of faster moving crime novels. They are good, not too taxing and the main characters are likeable!

Great listen

A lovely little series, reminded me of Midsomer Murders - a little village with many crimes to solve. The ex New York cop and an English housewife make the perfect crime solving partnership - who knew? As soon as I finished this set I immediately started on the next set.
