Publisher's summary

Camilla Brown always wanted a family of her own. But it seemed destiny had other plans. She’d begun to feel as though she'd always be in the background, helping others build their families, leaving her dreams to wilt and die.

That is until the handsome Winston Frank comes courting at the church picnic. But then, Sheriff Clifford Brentwood sweeps her off her feet, literally! Both men make her pulse race. Both are determined to claim her love. Only one can win her heart.

When an unexpected danger threatens her very life, Camilla will have to make a choice. Who will she choose?

This book can be listened to as a stand-alone, but also continues the story of Camilla Brown from The Betrothed.

Should she marry him or not.

I loved the story . There is an interesting mix of characters. There is a good bit of action and drama. What's a girl to do when she is being courted by one very eligible man but she has feelings for another who hasn't expressed any feelings for her. As far as narration, I didn't care much for the female voices with British accents. But otherwise it was fine.

Cherished

This is a sweet clean romance story set in the 1800's. It has those fun story elements of finding love and danger. The narration was ok, but personally some of the character voices were not my favorites. But over all he did a great job distinguishing between characters.

One sided relationship

I love the characters in this series and Camalia is no different. I think the sheriff had this dream of Camalia in his head. My thought on this is that how could Camalia fall for a man who is never around and only had a few encounters with. Her other beau she traveled across country with and now he is courting her. I understand her reluctance to marry Winston with his temper. Camalia had enough of that with her own father. The voices are excellent on the audiobook and as many times as Camalia gets into to trouble keeps the plot interesting.

Very good!

This was a sweet historical romance. I've enjoyed many books by Vivi Holt and this did not disappoint. The narrator did a great job as well.

Dogsbody

Always relegated to being a helpmeet, Camilla came to Cutter's Creek from England with her brother. (His story is told in "The Betrothed," but any relevant history is incorporated into the storytelling so this novel stands alone.) As she sees all others her age claiming mates she begins to doubt herself--until she finds herself the object of two very different men's attentions. With all the grittiness of the frontier, there is still room for tenderer feelings as we watch the romance unfold. No more--no spoilers!

Should she follow her head or her heart?

Camilla is being courted by Winston and she thinks that will be a good match, but there is something in her that says that perhaps she would be happier with Clifford. Except Clifford isn't making any moves towards courting her.

Every Vivi Holt book I read, I am impressed with the story and the high-quality of writing. This book is no exception. I look forward to listening to the rest of the series.
Paul Curtis did an excellent job with the narration. His pacing is perfect and his voice makes the story come to life.

Who will she choose?

I normally do not like love triangle stories, but this one is good. Two men want to marry Camilla Brown, but she can only choose one. They both have their good points and their challenges Mix in some intrigue and danger and you have a great story. Who will she choose?

I did not know that this was a continuation from a previous book, so it is safe to say that this is a good stand alone. I did not feel like I was missing any pieces while reading this story. Vivi brings her classic sweet and inspiring storytelling to the Cutter's Creek series. The plot, characters, and twists, and turns were well done and well written. I liked this book very much.

Paul Curtis has that wonderful western drawl that makes this story come alive! I like the way he does both male and female characters.

Decisions!

Cherished by Vivi Holt is a wonderful historical listen. I found the imagery in this story to pull me in and found Camilla's dilemma to be realistic. Do you go with your heart or the safe bet for the biggest decision of your life. The story moves along and has a number of unexpected twists. The narration by Paul Curtis was good. He gave a number of characters distinguishable voices which made it easy to know who was speaking. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. This book is a standalone listen and part of a series.
