Need child loss trigger warnings

I really wish this had a trigger warning at the beginning cuz as much as I love this series I would have skipped this one probably. Also the narrator either kept taking a drink or gulping.

Everytime he says lycanthropy I cringe

I like the story. The narrator knows how to pronounce lycanthrope but not lycanthropy and his female voices are also cringe worthy. The world building is great, she manages to keep track of all the details but I wouldn't mind if there was a key to all the strands published. I get confused about who's related to whom a lot of the time. (clue ly-can-thrope the accent is on the first syllable LYcanthrope, ly-can-thro-py the accent is on the second syllable lyCANthropy)

Light fun that runs too long

The romance of Aaron and cheetah shifter Sassy was fun, especially with their respective families in the mix. The crime procedural ran long and bland. It’s hard to get invested when we’re told about someone killing moms and kids, but everything happens off screen and with barely any detail. For instance, most of the victims aren’t even given names; they are grouped by ages (kids between 12 and 16) or profession (quite a few moms were entertainers).

On the plus side, this narrator is a vast improvement over the previous one, even if his female voices are a touch weak.
