Worth a listen for sure

It was a very eye opening and interesting read on the days following WWII in Berlin. Most interesting insight into the tactics of Stalin and Russia especially given today’s current events in Ukraine.

Author is narrator. I really enjoyed this story. Gave me facts without favoring one side over the other. But I favored one side!

The Grit of Col. Frank Howley

This book opened my eyes to the details of the events which happened in Berlin near the end of the war and until the end of the Soviet blockade of West Berlin. I had no idea about Frank Howley’s work to combat the deceit and cruelty of the Russian government and Josef Stalin in particular. The free world owes a great debt to Frank Howley for his defeat of the Russians and his courage to go against the shortsighted policies of the American and British governments before Truman backed Howley and others plan to defeat the blockade. Thanks to all who contributed the details to document this important period of time in world history.

Best author/ narrator in the business

Giles Milton is a most talented author. Not only can he make history come to life, but he narrates like a full time narrator. He can do it all. He makes post war Berlin come to life like a live action spy novel. It’s cat and mouse non stop. Bravo!!

Excellent history of the early days of the Cold War

I really enjoyed this. It filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge of what happened between the end of World War II and the start of the Cold War in earnest. Lots of fascinating characters. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the period.

Fascinating History

This book tells the very unique, unusual, a fascinating history of post-WW II Berlin. It's extremely well written and so enthralling that it's difficult to put down. Anyone who lived through this era and was interested in understanding events in more detail will greatly enjoy this book. Strongly recommended and absolutely a five star book.
