Publisher's summary

Kill your mate. Live forever.

As the only princess in the Shadow Court, Sinna has lived a painfully sheltered life. She knows her dream of becoming a ruthless Hunter—those charged with killing the fated mates of anyone in her court—will never be more than just a dream. An opportunity arises when her own mate is revealed to be the King of the Blood Court. Now Sinna's only hope of proving herself is to infiltrate the enemy court, seduce, and slay the Vampire King, and hope that her immortality holds out longer than his. Failure will not only mean a painful bloodless death for her but bring ruin to her entire court.

King Maddox of the Blood Court knows a liar when he meets one, but anything would be better than the mundane eternal existence he's endured thus far. When a stranger enters his court and challenges his restraint, he's eager to test his limits—and hers. But darker forces seek to make pawns of both preoccupied royals. Let the battle of wills commence.

I have never been disappointed by this author!

This is one of her spicier series and I loved it. This author has a way of setting up a magical/fantasy system that world is still solid before getting to the romantic parts. I rather enjoyed this look into modern fae. look forward for more from this author.

Tragically Enchanting!

Wow. I don't know what to think right now. I'm still reeling in shock from that ending!

I was anticipating this book back when I first saw the ebook cover and the idea of an audiobook had not even crossed my mind. Then I read a few unfavourable reviews that had me worried: they didn't like how there were other lovers aside from the main characters, However, I found it refreshingly realistic! Remember, these are immortal beings... who have lived a LONG time. Monogamy is somewhat of a foreign concept to them. Especially when one has never fallen in love before. And in this world, that is a very dangerous thing. It leaves you vulnerable -- true love could be the beginning of your downfall.

Maddox is king to the Blood Court: the most powerful court in the realm. To him, immortality is more of a curse than a blessing. Aside from Ronin, he does not trust easily. What he does have, are many enemies who want him dead. The Moon, Fae, and Shadow Courts are all plotting to take him down. And to do that, they are going to need to find his mate. Enter Sinna, sheltered princess with a need to prove herself as a shadow mage.

I found it interesting that mates could be from any of the respective courts. That means a vampire could be with a wolf, or a fae, or shadow mage and vice versa. There is the potential to bring unity to both courts. And yet, that's not how these immortals see it. The cost of falling in love means losing the very thing that makes you who you are. Right, how scary is that!

The story is split between multiple viewpoints. Each character has their own motivations for doing what they think is best for their people. I'm particularly intrigued by Delton, the Fae king. That British accent was utterly swoon-worthy! The narrators did a wonderful job in bringing the characters to life. I just wished that all the female parts were voiced by Lessa and that she did not have to do the male parts herself. Fun fact; the author wrote the lyrics to the song and the production/arrangement was all done within the family!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The story starts off slow, but then things picked up when the H & h were starting to get to know each other. I very much enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Looking forward to more

I loved this book. In what is sure to be a fantastic series, Brittni left me wanting more. Lots more. The writing was witty and the narrators made me feel as if I was immersed into the story. The only thing that bothers me is that I have to (im)patiently wait for the next book. I’ll be picking it up as soon as it’s available.

A Must Listen

Maddox is a tortured soul whose enemies are many. Sinna is daring and wants to prove herself to her people. How can this improbable match live in a world that's very much against them? This story is imaginative and romantic in the most tragic of ways.

I thought the story in Audible with the 4 narrators was amazing. It has that engrossing, edge-of-your-seat quality.

Plus, the bonus is an original song performed at the end that you are going to love!

I adore Brittni Chenelle's writing and this is my favorite story to date. I'm all in for the next books and I hope they'll also be in Audible because I need both in my collection.

So, so, so good!

Fascinating Paranormal Series Commences

I enjoyed this story a lot. This was the first book in the "Repressed Royals" series and once I started the audiobook, I had to listen until its conclusion. The world building was phenomenal and populated with paranormal beings. The characters were complex. The story was convoluted and had some surprising twists. I would describe this book as dark fantasy, and there were some descriptive sexual scenes, so I would recommend it to more mature readers. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Lessa Lamb's, VonDexter Montegut II's, Jake McAskill's, and Steven Rostance's narrations were delightful to listen to and added entertainment to this story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Paranormal Romance With A Twist

Chaste Blood by Brittni Chenelle is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lessa Lamb, VonDexter Montegut II, Jake McAskill, and Steven Rostance. This is the first book in the Repressed Royals series.

This is the first book of Brittni's that I have read, and it won't be my last. This book had a different spin on paranormals finding their fated mates that I found intriguing. I was left with a lot of questions so I can't wait for the next book Chaste Moon to be released.

Lessa, VonDexter, Jake, and Steven did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances.
