Publisher's Summary

Falling in love can come with the most unexpected risks in this First Wives novel from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

Avery Grant doesn’t date. Her first marriage was a mutually beneficial contract that gave her the financial freedom she needed to step away from her controlling parents. Wealthy and single, the last thing she’s looking for is love sneaking in to mess up her life plans. And after a brutal attack, she’s determined to never be vulnerable again, even if the new man in her life helps her feel safe.

Mesmerized from the moment he sets his eyes on Avery, Liam is driven to learn everything about this tough, sexy, challenging woman. Breaking down her defenses won’t be easy, but Liam refuses to be pushed away. All he needs is a tiny crack in Avery’s armor to wiggle his way into her heart.

But when a terrifying lie about her attacker’s fate comes to light, Avery’s past returns to haunt her. Now she’s willing to put herself in danger to get the answers she needs. That means jeopardizing the best thing that’s ever happened to her: Liam.

Another great book in this wonderful series.

This is another great book in another wonderful series by Catherine Buber. I did not want it to finish. I really enjoyed this book and series and am hoping there will be more books to continue. The audio version is great and Emma Wilder does a wonderful job of narrating.

great story

Loved it , wish there was more argue on what she did to her friends and loved ones, but the way it was exitcuted was perfect. wish you could a book about the spy in the midst of the group. I love her , and want to her story. she deserves a story of her own. (you know who I am talking about)😉

Great addition to this series

I have already reviewed book on Goodreads and Amazon. Avery is a great character full of life and it was a good story of her return to “Warrior “ status and finding love after becoming a victim. I hope that Catherine Bybee, my favorite author, will have Tasha’s “story” featured in a future book.

Great, exciting, and romantic

This is a third book in a series. Every book is continuation of a previous one, yet it tells a unique story of one of the main characters.
The narrator did a wonderful job by giving each character its own voice and personality.

Series Continues

Overall, not a bad addition to the series. I think the author paints Avery as too hard in the books but given her attack in the last book, it's a bit understandable. At least by the end of this story, she's getting herself together. Narrator does a great job as in the others. It will be interesting to see how Bybee writes the next wife, Shannon's story.

My favorite so far in this series! Great narration

This might be my favorite of the series so far. I really liked Avery and her new found fighting skills. She was on a mission to never get beat on again! I liked Liam too. He was handsome and smart. I was kind of worried in the beginning when he was kind of stalkery... but that moved on quickly.

I enjoyed the story line and plot. It all flowed very well and was well written. There was a lot of dialogue throughout the entire book. There is a couple of sex scenes but they were nicely written not rated G or X. Just well written.

I don't know if Catherine Bybee reads her reviews but if you do CB can you please do a book about Sasha please! I am dying to know about her character. She is kind of awesome! Thanks.

As for the narration it was excellent. I enjoyed it a lot. Emma Wilder did a great job on all the voices and has a very nice reading voice.
