Story
When the pandemic hit, nobody was expecting it to be as bad as it was. The economy barely survived the lockdowns, but it staggered along until civil unrest shattered people’s hope of better times to come. With it being an election year, more and more Americans were waking up to the idea that they truly were behind the curve. The hope was if they did not get sick, run out of money, or could avoid violent mobs, they would be fine.

This is the new America. The lights are out, the grid is fried, and war between two monstrous armies is breaking out all along the coastal states. Logan, Skylar, and Harper thought they were prepared. They thought time was on their side. They even thought they were tough enough to survive, a notion they’re about to put to the test.... The Dark Days series puts ordinary citizens on the front lines of a domestic conflict that was never supposed to happen, one that will either unify the country or break her for good.

Acceptance and survival!
We’ve been here before, the premise that Russia attacks the United States from the west and China from the east. EMP’s follow as the coup de grâce, and the United States is left in chaos and terror. Three years into the war, civilian survivors are becoming tired of running, hiding, and fighting. Mental exhaustion, despair, and panic settle in. Self-preservation can cause unexpected and unusual behavior in people. People who were your friends suddenly become your enemy. This first volume of the series revolves around such behavior. The war is not going well, people are giving up, trading their freedom for sustenance and comfort. History can and will repeat itself. Too unbelievable

Great!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I did have to listen to this on 1.3x speed as I found the narration was a bit slow but the narrator was actually really good other than that. He had a great, relaxing voice. I was able to listen to this during work and do not have any complaints other than the speed. The storyline was really good. I was not sure how I would like the genre as I haven't liked books like this in the past but I was pleased and pleasantly surprised. The characters were ok but I felt they could have been a bit more fleshed out. Overall, it was a great book and I felt reeled in right away.

Very Interesting Premise...
To be honest, this was hard to listen to. The beginning was slow and, the narrator was hard to get used to but, after more than a few chapters into the audiobook it began to get really interesting. Overall it is a really good story though some parts were predictable and some parts were just too far fetched. Having said that, I'm glad that I bought the audiobook and listened to it. If you like this review, as well as, the audiobook's description than by all means buy a copy and enjoy it for yourself. This is my honest opinion and review of this audiobook.

A different EMP story
This started of kinda weird. But I slowly got into the characters and the story. I didn’t understand the whole purpose of Miles and the flash forward and back. Now I didn’t know whether to idolize him or try to help him. There are a TON of other characters. They come and go and others stick around. I do like Gunner and his twisty story. Overall this isn’t what I expected from this story. It runs a bit different then a typical EMP but I like it. I really was rooting for Miles and Gunner.

Great Book 1 for the Series
I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Chaos Erupts - A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (Outlaws of the Midwest, Book 1) by Jack Hunt and narrated by Chris Monteiro. This was a very good book 1 to the start of a TEOTWAWKI series. A little bit of a change up since it starts with everything down and an invading force in control of the area already. It moves quickly into much action, character development is good. And apparently no one is safe from being killed off in the book. The series has lots of potential. The narration was good for the story too. Chris is now the voice for this series as far as I am concerned. I am anxiously awaiting book 2.

Fight back!
Take back America! Chaos Erupts is the first book in a 'fun' new survival series by the prolific Jack Hunt. This time around Mr. Hunt invited us to an America that has been invaded, and treats us to a story about young Miles Arrington as he joins in the fight to retake the country. Like most of Mr. Hunt's work, the book features a solid cast pop characters and an enjoyable storyline. I consider Mr. Hunt's books to be the literary version of a popcorn flick. Relaxing, mindless fun. And I mean that in a good way. They are a fun break from reality. The only real complaint I have is that the actual initial invasion and the early days are basically recapped rather than experience. I think the actual invasion would have been a really fun story to witness first hand, but I really I am just nitpicking, lol. I think this is the first time I've heard Chris Monteiro's narration and have to say he delivered a solid performance. I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Start to a New Series
"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review." I very much enjoyed the first book in this new series. Writing was excellent as was the narration. There’s violence, but absolutely not over the top. In my mind the best part is the identification and development of relevant factions, with a fair amount of unanswered questions at the end of this first installment. As new books are released I will definitely be investing credits to follow along.

Chaotic Glory! I LOVED IT!
I received this book via a promo code and this is my honest voluntary review. (Thanks Jack!) Recently finished a post-apocalyptic audiobook by Grace Hamilton and decided to start on the several Jack Hunt titles in my audible collection and after this book I promptly added the rest of his books, which I credit to the excellent world building. It got me right in the SHTF prepper feels and the multiple character POV's kept the action coming. America is facing it's darkest hour, citizens are blindsided by an invasion after strategic attack wipes out the west and east coast. The PLA strikes immediately after Nuclear bombings on their Allies in Canada and London, leaving families and young men like Miles and August to navigate this new world as lives are lost, militias rise, friendships are tested, and the enemy gains an even stronger foothold. The background and interplay of politics between surviving patriotic Americans who want to fight the invaders and those turncoat collaborators felt so authentic when you think how communities dealt with invading German troops in France etc. Each camp has its own complex motivations and you are as shocked as the characters by the cunning brutality of the invaders and gruesome horrors man is capable of inflicting during conflict which is why the guerrilla style propaganda war of The Hunter is so effective. If I had to describe this book as an on screen equivalent its like the 2010 Australian movie Tomorrow, when the war began meets Jericho with some Robin Hood action thrown in, which was perfectly brought to life by the awesome narration of Chris Montiero.
