Publisher's summary

Lady Lenora St. Martin is shy and a wallflower. She has no idea how to interact in society, so when Julian Everleigh, the duke of Ashley, asks her to dance at a ball, she falls completely in love with him.

After that one dance, he doesn't seem to notice her again, and Lenora has to discover a way to break out of her shell on her own and vows never to love again. As she flourishes, Julian takes notice and decides she's the only lady for him, but he may have already lost his chance of having her love.

Lenora and Julian

We first meet Lenora and Julian at a ball. Lenora is a wallflower with no self-confidence. Julian is a prick. He asks her to dance, inspiring hope, then dashes it with his bragging and rudeness. Next we meet them two years later, when Lenora has come into her own. She is now a beautiful and self-confident lady. I liked the zingers she got in, putting Julian in his place. I wish she had made him work for her love a bit harder. She accepted his bad behavior and excuses much too easily. The story is a novella. It is entertaining, and well written. The characters have their own unique personalities. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook from BookSprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Started Out Strong, But Fizzled …

The heroine of this story is so sympathetic when we see her in the first scene with the hero. She's a timid wallflower who doesn't much believe in herself, so she's thrilled when a handsome lord and well-known rogue asks her to dance. After it, her confidence soars, but she's soon back to reality when she overhears him talking to a friend about the dance, dismissing her and stating how easy it is to get a wallflower to do anything you want. We meet the couple two years later after the heroine has truly come into her own, grown into a strong woman who can command a room … so different from her former self that the hero doesn't recognize her. She gets a few excellent put-downs in; loved those! Frankly, I loved seeing the arrogant some-bee put in his place! But soon, and for little reason—other than she’s supposedly loved him all along (groan!)--she forgives him way too quickly without requiring him to grovel or even asking for an explanation from him about how he acted and what he said earlier. I like how she needled him when they met again, but she shouldn't have been won over so quickly given what he did and said. To me, when a hero is a real jerk, he has to truly make it up to be worthy of the heroine. That did not happen in this book.

Lenora & Julian

Book six in the Scandal Meets Love series. Lady Lenora St. Martin and Julian Everleigh, the Duke of Ashley meet again, but he does not recognize her. This is a second chance story that is well written with a HEA. I enjoyed listening to as Olivia Merlant narrates this story.

People Change

He doesn’t even recognize her. Julian Everleigh, Duke of Ashley, doesn’t know who the beautiful young woman at the ball is nor why she seems not to like him. Two years ago, Julian danced with Lenora, and then she heard him make unkind remarks about the “favor” to her cousin. She leaves London determined to become a stronger and independent woman. Now she is back, Julian is interested, and she wants nothing to do with him. How on Earth will Julian win her back? Is it too late? An enjoyable story about finding oneself and love. There’s a bit of revenge as well. The characters typically aristocratic and fun. The story is nicely narrated by Olivia Merlant.
