Callie Gordon is more than a little obsessed....

I love firemen. Heroic. Selfless. Brave. Not to mention the uniform with those damn sexy pants...I can't get enough. Imagine my surprise when local fire captain, Chase Matthews, wanders into my yard on moving day. I've hit real estate gold. Hot as sin with that all-knowing smirk creates an instant spark. "Welcome to the neighborhood" never seemed so good.

But dating a firefighter isn't all it's cracked up to be. Chase keeps me at distance even when I attempt to break down his walls. A friendship with the nosy eccentric woman down the street reveals there's more to Chase than he's willing to share. I'm playing with fire and bound to get burned.

Secrets unfold. Truths are brought to light. Can I handle the heat? Or will my love for this man prove that sometimes even good girls have to burn down the house?

Freaking amazing story and Savannah Peachwood’s narration is too! #MustListen

This book was just...wow! Just when you think you know where this book, this trope, this author is going, NOPE! Kacey Shea damn near blew my mind with her impeccable storytelling, characters that felt vibrant and real, and a story that was so gripping I even listened to in the shower!

The heroine and hero are amazing! Where Callie is an open book Chase is much more guarded. She’s a planner and him no so intensely. But oh my Jesus their chemistry was off the charts! The overall book was so freaking engaging. Whether I was sometimes giggling, swooning, or gasping at the twists in the story, I was always completely enthralled with the story and characters.

Savannah Peachwood is one of my favorite female narrators. I love her ‘male’ voice most as much as her normal voice. He ability to switch between female and male POVs so effortlessly is amazing and helps to keep the flow of story moving and the listener engaged. I always know it’s going to be a great narration when I see her name and this time was no different. Caught in the Flames is an absolute must listen and 100% credit worthy.

✫✫ 3.5 Stars ✫✫

This is a book with a lot of angst and drama and if that is your thing, you will probably love this one! For me the best character was Ashley, he was real, flawed and sweet which I loved. Callie grew on me, in the beginning I wasn't a fan because she is a huge ball of angst but towards the end I think she grew and her character became much more like able. I also loved the relationship she formed with her elderly neighbor, it was sweet and honest. If this book had a few less coincidences I probably would have been able to get on board but NO ONE ever has a weekly run in with the fire department... or at least I hope no one does. Besides the drama, this book was sexy and funny.

The narration was good too.

Angsty goodness

I originally read this book by Kacey only 2 or 3 weeks before the audio was release and KNEW I needed to hear it. I absolutely loved the story and it is one of those that after reading so many books in between then and now I still remember the storyline, the plot, the feelings the characters brought out in me. The twists and turns of the story and what kept me reading and not wanting it to end. Savannah Peachwood did a marvelous job bring Callie to life and giving her the sass and heart you that is conveyed when also reading it. Highly recommend. Can't wait for more Kacey Shea books to come to audio!

I give it a 4.5 ⭐️

I really enjoyed listening to this. One because the narrator is excellent, and two because it was easy to stay engaged and yet not filled with angst and drama. As per usual romance novel it was slightly predictable but not to the point of eye rolling or boredom. It wasn’t smoking hot, but enough steam for the story. The author did a good job at character development. I felt like I knew each of the characters and liked most of them. The only character I couldn’t really relate with is Callie. She was way too naive and clueless. I did roll my eyes at her several times, but then again it was all part of the story. If she was real bright the story would have played out differently 🤣 overall it was a fun, entertaining romance. I needed a break from darker genres and this bit the spot perfectly!

finding & recognizing your true love

This book was one of those that made you laugh, cry, and swoon. Callie Gordon is a planner...now she is an excited planner...landed first full-time job out of college-check...bought first house-check...new boyfriend prospect-maybe check? Callie's new house is just down the block from Fire Station 10 and, on move-in day, she meets uber hot Captain Chase Matthews. There is mega chemistry between these two and they soon start dating...all is well in Callie-land...or is it? While Callie is an open book, Chase is very secretive but Callie is patient, hoping that he will eventually open up...especially about Tiff, the woman that keeps giving Callie the stink eye. Also, what is with Chase's firehouse nickname, 'Hugh', that is such a big secret? Will this relationship survive? There is lots of drama in this book...drama, a stalker, a womanizer, a kooky old lady, lots of alcohol and a nice guy...you will be constantly guessing about what comes next. While I enjoyed this book, and the narration, I have a couple of peeves that took away a star for me...I don't applaud young women drinking to the point of passing out. Secondly, the beginning of each chapter did get a bit annoying 'I hate...or I love...' and it was a very long book. Again, these are my personal peeves, otherwise, it is a great book.

A Red hot read!!!

It took me awhile to get through this audiobook, I think it's because it has a kind of slow start. Chase and Kali meet almost immediately and I got pretty excited, I mean hot fire fighter, yum!!! Then, the book got super angsty and Chase was way secretive, which can mean literally anything. I loved Kiki, I wish my Grandma was as cool as her. She was such great friend throughout the book. She is the whole reason Kali meets Ash (Ashley, it's a family name). And Ash he was absolutely the sweetest and an all around great friend, when Kali really needed one. The was a lot of push and pull in this book and I love angst, but it almost made it so I didn't want to finish listening. I am glad that I stuck it out, because there were a few twists near the end, that I did not see coming. The book was narrated by Savannah Peachwood, who is great doing both female and male characters.

I loved this book!

This was such an unexpected listen.
I really thought it would be all fun with sexy firemen. Boy, I was wrong!! It is so much more.
I was pleasantly surprised by the supporting characters like Kiki. And for the length of the book, it never stalled. There's humor, drama, friendship, heartbreak and betrayal, romance, and enough heat to carry it.
The many layers of various things happening in these characters lives kept my ear buds playing for hours at a time.
This is my first experience with Kacey Shea now I'll be on the lookout for future book's from this talented author. Savannah Peachwood also did an outstanding job acting the many character voices.
I highly recommend spending a credit on this captivating book. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

Hot Hot Hot

This book had a slow start, but got better as it went along. Callie wasn’t likable at first but gradually better as the book went on. Chase was the Caption of the firefighters, their relationship was instant. When Ashley came into the picture everything changed. This was a great story well read. Savannah Peachwood did a great job with the narration.

Wow! Amazing!

Funny, witty, great story, hot romance, exciting and fun characters!

Caught I’m the Flames was my first audio book. I was a little sceptical. I totally loved it! My gym seasons whizzed by with the delightfully sweet and sassy Calie, hot and fiery Chase, the hilariously sharp and witty friends and the ever patient and deliciously hot Ash. Beautifully written and wonderfully read. Kacey Shea writes in such a fun way, I laughed, cried and whimpered through the entire book. Hot, funny and emotional. Beautifully done.

Savannah Peachwood could read my shopping list and have me enthralled. Her beautiful tone and expressive vocal talents are just wonderful. A perfect pairing. Great story and great narration.

Wonderful story but description a little off

I think the description is a little misleading because of how the story plays out. However, this is not to say that this isn’t an amazing story, full of emotion. Humor in many places. Betrayal that hurts my heart because I got invested in the heroine. And anger as I consider what happened. Sadness as certain events played out. Eventually, there’s the HEA which makes me happy. So, I went through a whole range of emotions.

Read the book or listen to the audiobook (Savannah Peachwood is great, perfect pacing and she's so good at playing multiple characters. I thought she did a fantastic job infusing emotion and humor when needed) and get involved in Callie’s story. By the way, the supportive cast, including Kiki and Jill is great. Jill especially is going to be covered in the second book and while I wasn't a huge fan of Cam in this story, I liked him in the second book. (I actually read that book first and now, so much more makes sense and Cam redeems himself in the second book.)

Gotta love firemen

I do love firemen stories and the heroine Callie definitely loves firemen. The book is long but the characters are well developed and maybe needed the story to be long to showcase all that happens in this book. There were so many emotions that I felt and I loved Kiki and Ash. It has a lot of surprising events that you don’t see coming and which makes for a great listen and that pulls you into the book.

Savannah Peachwood does an amazing job of creating distinctive characters and there were a lot in the book too! You clearly see them in your mind while she narrates the book. I love when a narrator can preform so many various characters and does it well, you should definitely listen to this audiobook.

This is my first book by this author and I’m excited to listen to more from this series. Who story will be next? Maybe Chase? Every bad boy should be able to redeem themselves. Maybe one of Callie’s girlfriends? Can’t wait to see who’s book is next. However this book is a standalone and doesn’t have a cliffhanger so don’t worry because it does have an HEA but with whom does Callie end up with? You’re going to have to listen to this audiobook to find out for yourself.

I was lucky to win this audiobook from the author and this review is being left as my honest opinion.

good romance

this was a good story which at first seemed like a basic romance but it had some twists and turns which kept it interesting.
like the way the characters were written but at times wanted to slap Cally up the side of her head and tell her to use her words. the pace was a little slow for me and i felt it was dragged out a bit. Despite that I this enjoyed it.

I love firemen!

There was an awful lot packed into this one book. It was filled with drama, angst, arson, hot firemen, a quirky but fun heroine, a sweet elderly neighbor and a cat. The many accidental interactions Callie had in the beginning with Chase and the other firemen was a bit unrealistic, but the story was interesting and unpredictable with a twist or two thrown it. I would definitely recommend this story to others. Savannah Peachwood did an amazing job bringing this story to life. She puts a lot of emotion into the characters, and I love both her male and female voice.

So Much Drama!

This book had my head going back and forth about who to love and who to hate. I spent most of the book hoping for redemption for one character but the story went in a completely different direction. I enjoyed the overall story but still wish it would have gone differently. I will definitely listen to other books from this series and see what happens with everyone.

The narration was amazing! I loved what Savannah Peachwood did with all of the characters!

Back half redeems the first half

This is a hard review to write because I almost gave up on this book. The only thing that kept me going for the first 5 hours was Savannah Peachwood’s excellent narration, the multiple 5 star reviews saying how great it was after the midway point, and the fact that I got it with a free code in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the second half of this book so much that it’s a 5 star listen, but the 3 star first half makes it 4 stars overall.
Savannah’s various voices were excellent and helped make the first half bearable. The story started slow and spent far too much time with the set-up. It’s hard to explain without spoilers, but while I understand the need for the backstory to really appreciate the heroine’s arc, I think it could have been accomplished with a lot less time and detail. Callie is a bit whiny and naive, and it took a long time to warm to her because she gave Chase too many chances. The villains are well developed, but again, it took longer than necessary to reveal them and their motives. Kiki and Ash are the best parts of this story, and their presence in the second half redeems the story for me.
I can only “recommend” this listen if you like long, angsty, slow building arcs.
