Publisher's summary

As a former Texas Ranger, Charlie "Catfish Charlie" Tuttle spent the good part of his life catching outlaws. Happily retired in Wolfwater, Texas, he's content just catching fish—namely Bubba, the wily old catfish who lives in the pond near Charlie's shack and keeps slipping off Charlie's hook. He also likes hanging out with his trusty tomcat Hooligan Hank and tossing back bottles of mustang berry wine. Sure, his glory days are behind him. There's no reason for Charlie to even think about coming out of retirement . . .

It starts with a jailbreak. Frank Thorson and his gang ride into Wolfwater to bust Frank's brother out of the slammer. First, they slaughter the deputy. Then, the town marshal. Finally, they run off with the marshal's daughter and no one's sure if she's dead or alive. The townsfolk are desperate enough to ask that drunken old coot Catfish Charlie to put down his fishing pole and wine bottles, pick up his Colt Army .44, and go after the bloodthirsty gang. Sure, Catfish Charlie may be a bit rusty after all these years. But when it comes to serving up justice, no one is quicker, faster—or deadlier . . .

Great story!

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I've a fondness for the characters and the mischievous catfish. The voice actor did a good job. Unfortunately, I wish this had been read by someone who could've matched the age, accents, and probable gravelly voice an old heavy drinker a little bit better.

Catfish Charlie

Charlie is a retired Texas Ranger. There is a jail break in town and the sheriff and deputy is killed. Frank Thornton breaks his brother out of jail and kidnapped the sheriff's daughter during the jail break. Catfish and Brozos go after the Brothers that did it. I'll not spoil it so I'll just say that is a good part of this book. Then they (Catfish and Brozos) take the job as Sheriff and Deputy. Julia's husband wants her killed and sends his guys to kill her. Catfish has to deal with that. He takes a liking to her. Also a rich rancher likes Julia and wants her. The saloon owners doesn't like the laws they make. Closing the saloons early mainly. They get together and try to eliminate them. There is plenty of excitement and adventure to this new series. I like how catfish takes care of problems. Brian Telestai does a good job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

The story was good.

This narrator often fell into a halting and unnatural cadence that made it difficult to listen… otherwise another good story!

Lousy story, lousy reader.

I didn’t like anything about this book. Lousy reader and very difficult to follow. You have to work. Not a good way to enjoy a book.
