Author does a great job developing characters and hardship without resorting to outlandish or unbelievable bad guys. I am a fan.

Robert Cole crafted an excellent post apocalyptic novel that focuses on a husband awaking in the dead of night and recognizes the likelihood of the start of a nuclear conflagration. Not waiting for confirmation, he wakens his family and quickly leaves the area and heads for a known remote area. As it turns out, he and his wife had been both military-trained warriors and, together, they rush to gather lots of emergency supplies, dry and canned foods, weapons and ammo before the country is alerted. The rest of the novel is similar to others of this genre, with close encounters, intrigue and friendships.

The most surprising, for me at least, it the pitch-perfect reading of the novel from a computer-generated voice. If Audible hadn't made that known upfront, I would not have suspected it being anything other than a human narrating the book.

A well written post apocalyptic novel

the story was interesting and moved right along. while the ai voice was pleasant, I'd rather listen to a human.
