Carl Jung was one of the 20th century’s most significant psychological theorists. He developed concepts we use every day - introverts and extroverts chief among them. Mark Vernon’s eight-part book explores some of Jung’s key ideas and also looks at his relationship with the other giant of the mind - Sigmund Freud.

The How to Believe series of books explores the teachings, philosophies, and beliefs of major thinkers and religious texts. In a short, easy-to-access format, leading writers present new understandings of these perennially important ideas.

i have now read (with my ears) a whole bunch of these brief surveys of this or that Thinker or period of time.... And this is definitely one of the better ones. paul strathern's '...In 90 Minutes' books TEND to be so full of his peculiar biases and his (albeit often quite witty) snark that when he clearly dislikes his particular subject, i find them nearly un-listen-to-able. (his 'Hegel in 90 Minutes' is a shining example of this phenomenon.) ..... but THIS short intro to Jung is warm,... friendly to Jung and his Thinking without being groveling or hagiographic. i genuinely felt uplifted by it..... toward the end --- his discussion of Jung's VITAL and somewhat, dare i say, *Synchronistic* FOUNDATIONAL role in the creation of Alcoholics Anonymous, i found to be REALLY something ........ ESPECIALLY since, as a "Friend of Bill W" for about a year now AND a pretty hard-core Jung-lover, i had NO CLUE that it was Carl Jung's entreaty to his patient, Rowland H, that was more-or-less THE seed that brought AA into eventual existence --- Uh. MAYzing!

pretty darn Good

More than one point made me audibly say "huh" which says a lot since I am a self-diagnosed introvert connecting so strongly that I speak! haha 😂

Very Provocative
