Publisher's summary

Cara Truman is a pint-size pistol whose inquisitive nature has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion. Her next adventure takes her further than she even expected when she ends up on a journey out of this world.

Trelon Reykill thought he had his hands full. A militant group of Curizans captured his brother Zoran, he's busy fortifying the Valdire defenses against the Sarafin warriors, and his dragon is roaring for him to find a mate. The last thing he expects to find on the primitive planet his brother has taken refuge on is his true mate.

Now Trelon must capture Cara long enough to make her his, but his symbiosis loves her, his dragon wants her, and someone is trying to kill her. Trelon must love Cara so well that she will never want to escape him - if he can catch her.

Pint-sized Spaz attracts a Dragon Alien. Fun!

Again, as I noted in my last review, this series can't be taken too seriously. If you understand it's a bit on the ridiculous side, it's a load of fun.

In the last book Abby was abducted by an alien dragon. And what single, hunky, alien doesn't have a lot of single, hunky brothers? They might need some single gorgeous ladies... and oh hey, they kidnapped a handful when they took Abby.

Cara is a super-hyper ADHD insomniac that acts like she's part 3-year-old part rocket scientist. Maybe a little evil genius thrown in. She's an orphan, which I mentioned before, is awfully handy when you get abducted. Her only friends who would miss her were abducted too so there ya go! Now she's buzzing around the spaceship of a dragon race, tearing apart things and improving them, because learning space technology takes a matter for a few sleepless nights.

Meanwhile, half way through, she starts allowing the hunky dragon-shifting alien man, who's been drooling for her since the moment he took her, into her pants. Then he screws up in very typical misunderstood fashion. And of course, there's a pregnancy in the mix because melodrama just doesn't work without the poor female being knocked up. And last but certainly not least, the evil guys are still mustache-twirling and plotting.

I like this story. It's quirky, and Cara is a hoot. Don't take it too seriously and you'll enjoy spending a credit.

Awesome Sci-Fi Romance!

I love S.E. Smith's Sci-Fi romances! She does an excellent job with the world building, the characters, dialogue, steamy romance, action, and humor. When I'm in the mood for a good Sci-Fi romance, she is a go to author. Her stories never disappoint, and Capturing Cara was no exception! I loved the story and look forward to listening the rest of the series.

Some spoilers:
Besides the action packed plot, banter, steamy sex scenes, the characters really made this story. I loved Cara! Her character was a little on the ADHD side, but full of life, energetic, feisty, and she had no problem standing up to the big dragon-shifting alien despite her small size. Trelon has claimed Cara as his true mate, and she has brought beautiful chaos to his life. He's totally in love with Cara, but she is constantly taking things apart to see how they tick, causing mischief, and never staying where she should be. He could try to handcuff her to the bed, but she could easily escape and turn it around on him.

David Brenin did an outstanding job narrating these stories. He's got a great voice, and narrates the characters with passion.

Well worth the time, credit or sale!

CARA MADE IT A FUN LISTEN RATHER THAN ROMANTIC

It seems everyone except the handsome Dragon Lord Trelon wished they hadn't captured Cara because the pint sized, feisty, energetic Engineering Genius was never where she should be but rather was always where she shouldn't be and she was forever causing trouble and mayhem on board. But the likeable Cara just couldn't help herself.... she loved messing around with technology and all the new gadgetry and circuit boards were just begging for her attention.... and she had plenty of time never needing more than just a few hours of sleep a night, together with consuming buckets full of caffeine, she was like a possessed kid in a Candy Store. And poor Trelon and his Dragon just wanted desperately to claim and mate with her but he always had to catch her first.

I must admit I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the previous book as the focus seemed to be more on the fun parts rather than the romance. Oh, don't get me wrong, it did have its sexy and romantic times but Cara, together with Trelon's willing symbiot, brought humor, mischief and innocent antics to the listen which made it more of a funny caper rather than a love story. However, there was also drama, angst, a bitter scheming ex, some heartache and terror caused by their evil enemies the Curizans.

Worth a credit? Dual POV's, a good male narrator, plenty of descriptive funny scenes which gave great mental imagery as Cara re-wired, re-programmed and re-invented while on board the space ship and the rest of the story was very enjoyable too so YES creditworthy as long as you're prepared for the exasperating Cara!!

LOVED THE H/H

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because I enjoyed it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Capturing Cara?

Trelon finding out Cara was having twin girls!!

What does David Brenin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does well enough sounding like a female when the role call for it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Cara is buried in the Cave and hides inside her Dragon

Any additional comments?

Capturing Cara is another 5 star story in the Dragon Lords of Valdier series. We meet Cara in bk. 1 Abducting Abby. Cara is a very petite Human, Genius Mechanical Engineer. Her IQ is off the charts, but what makes her an excellent female lead character is her spirit and her energy. Her True Mate we found out is Trelon a Valdier Dragon Warrior/Shifter and brother to the King of Valdier. Trelon wants to keep Cara chained up in a good way because she is creating havoc aboard there ship. Cara has re engineered all of there advance technology. Technology we don't even have on earth but because that's what makes her brain tick she just has to improve everything and make it work much better. At first this cause a bit of chaos with the ships environment and engines. Trelon thinks if he can chain her long enough to mate her she will change her ways. But Cara can undo any chains and get out of any situations to lock her up. She is a petite power house that packs a very large punch.

I love poor Telon constantly trying to tie down Cara and keep her out of trouble. They have some madcap adventures in the story that helps the Valdier enemies to try to hurt there mates and even capture Cara and her friend Trisha. But these are kick butt women. They are tough and strong, intelligent and also very beautiful. The romance between Telon and Cara is not as erotic as Zoran and Abby book one but it was sensual. I truly enjoyed Capturing Cara and I am Highly Recommending it for a fast fun and easy romance read.

Totally love it!!

This picks things up pretty much with a rewind of the last book. We get a flashback to Cara as a child. Then everything repeats from the flight onward. This time things are predominately from the two leads POV.

Of all the characters in the last book, I most related to Cara. Not quite the ADD, but definitely the energetic and creative mind side of her personality. She is so quirky, fun and free! I love characters like her. Others might find her a bit much, but I thought she was delightful!

Trelon certainly has his work cut out for him in pinning this hummingbird down! He is all bossy alien alpha male. Thankfully, Cara is not going to lay down and take it. Sure they have hawt chemistry, but she is not letting that blind her and cow her. She is determined to be loved for who she is, no changes needed.

The plot thickens with several intrigues at play on their Valdier home world. I love all these twists and turns that add depth to the series. The layers are delicious and keep the reader engaged. I am eager to see things play out in the other books.

The narrative is still a touch jumpy at times with a stray thought here and there from another character. Mostly it is from the leads, but those randoms make things a tad herky-jerky.

Yummy smexy scenes, yeah there is steamy heated detail to get you all hawt and bothered. Have the ice cream ready, and a cold shower, and your special someone!! Whoa mama!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by David Brenin, who is one of my ear crushes. I just adore his deep rumble that brings these smexy Alpha aliens to life. His pace is spot on and flows beautifully with the read. This is one of those happy pairings of wonderful story and the right narrator. The energy of the story feeds into the energy of the read. A delightful performance! I can not wait to hear him on the next book!

I want Trisha now!! I know the ebook is already out, but I want David to read to me again. This book leaves off with a tease for the next. I want, I want, I want!!

Disclosure – I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own. I was under no obligation to post a review or give positive feedback. Although in all fairness after loving the first book, I did request it!

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Cara was soooooo annoying!!!!

Okay I’ll admit, I only made it less then 2 hours into the story and I just couldn’t take Cara’s character anymore. She constantly acts like a hyperactive child who takes apart/disassembles anything she wants without asking first, simply to entertain her curiosity and her ADHD problem. She claims she’d doing this to see how an item works, regardless of the fact that she’s disassembling very important machinery on an ACTIVE spaceship currently carrying many souls who are on their way to their home planet.

She causes a serious amount of trouble by constantly disassembling important items even after being asked repeatedly not to by the captain and her future mate, who by the way is always chasing her down trying to find her and always gets blamed for the problems she creates, even though it’s not his fault! Yes, the items she dissembles almost always end up operating better than before she messes with them, but the point she seems to be missing is that it’s not her property to do what she wants with and no one asked her to improve the items, hell they don’t even know her!!! She never asks for permission first even though she clearly knows she’s on an active spaceship with a race of people who are not familiar with her species and are already wary of her.

Cara simply refuses to act like a responsible adult and treats the ML like crap. I feel like she totally led him on by sleeping with him early on and then got all pissy when she overheard him say something out of context when he was being scolded by the captain for a problem SHE CREATED! Then she gets all pissy at the ML and of course, instead of just asking him for an explanation on why he said what he said and to explain how he really feels (like a normal adult would do), she instead decides to simply avoid him totally and acts like a complete brat to him and she even gets his symbiot to act like a brat to him as well... It was at this point in the book that I couldn’t take her anymore and stopped listening.

I mean I get that the author is trying for some comedic moments but the way she’s going about Cara’s character is ALL WRONG!!!! I would suggest only reading this novel if your a die hard about reading a series in order no matter how bad the story is. Who knows, maybe it gets better in the later chapters but I just can’t listen to find out.

Even better than the first book

I was very excited to read Cara's story and could not have been more entertained. Cara is just full of energy that this planet was not prepared for... Amusing with just the right amount of conflict and action.

hilarious.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Cara is so funny at time's I found myself laughing aloud at numerous times.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Capturing Cara?

There are lot's of memorable moments, but the most touching was trying to reach cara after she had retreated deep into her dragon after being trapped in the cave.her fear of in closed places was so bad she nearly was unreachable. You have to read the story to find out what happened.

Have you listened to any of David Brenin’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Listened to the previous book in the series and found his story telling was so easy to listen to,before you knew it hours had past .

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

There's a true mate for every man.

Great entertainment listening to this book.

Great entertainment listening to this book in audible but sometimes the narrator is a bit monotone for my tastes. BOOK REVIEW Another wonderful read from Ms Smith. I laughed so much at Cara’s antics. Cara is hyper to the nth degree and is driving Trelon mad. He has no idea how to deal with an earth woman, let along one like Cara who can run rings around all these seasoned warriors and make them wish for a quick death. We have a background story running as well which is getting interesting. I just loved this book the first time I read it and feel the same about the rest of the series. I have owned this book for ages and read this series over and over and never tire of them. I have written this review as I now understand the importance of them to help authors work be acknowledged and apologise to Ms Smith for taking so long to do so.

My favourite SE Smith book so far

My favourite of the Alliance series. A woman with sass and a storyline that avoids the "no means yes" trope that so many romance novels use, and that therefore really gets a bit rapey. Instead this book has a compelling plot and more realistic characters.
