Sweet Small Town Romance

I am a huge fan of small town romances because the characters usually seem more realistic and relatable and Captain of My Heart is no exception. Love rarely follows a linear path and Cass and Ray will have some bumps along the way. Can their love survive Ray's secrets or will they be torn apart?

This was a very pleasant listen and the May/December romance was an interesting dynamic. I suspected that there would be some plot twists but they still managed to surprise me. The narration sounded a bit stiff but was pretty good overall. I enjoyed Captain of My Heart and would recommend it.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is my honest opinion.

My Favorite Giselle Lumas Book Yet

Captain Of My Heart is a sweet romance that anyone from a small town can certainly imagine. When Cass and her 2 young children moved to a small town, she calls the fire department to rid her yard of a huge rattlesnake. When they answer the call, the dreamy and considerably older Captain Ray make quick work of their task. Ray invites her on a date and Cass enjoys comradely and is hopeful for this budding fondness for the man.

However, rumors abound of Ray's womanizing and the estranged relationship between Ray and his son. Is there more? Should she care? Will she be able to guard her heart against any pain he may cause her?

Captain Of My Heart is a sweet and realistic romance with unexpected twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the 2nd book that I have listened to written and performed by Giselle Lumas, I look forward to hearing more.

Not for me

There are some parts that I liked and others not so much. This book is more for adults then teen. Some reviewers have called this a sweet romance but in my opioion it is a clean romance. Sweet means to me there is no sexual tension and concentrates on the romance and other things.
This book has sexual tension and the female does think about sex even if there is no sex.
The ending did surprise me since I was not expecting it and it is a quick listen.
However, I found that I could not really get into the book. I don't know what it is but it did not grab me.
Others might like it more then I did.

Surprising Story!

This was my first Giselle Lumas's book. This is the first book in the Series. This is a small town novella, with a younger woman, and a much older man. The twist was totally unpredictable. Now, I have to listen to The Captain's son to know what happens next. The narration was easy to understand. Tha Captain

I enjoyed the story and the overall vibe of the book but was really surprised by the ending especially since it's not indicated that it's a series. I like that the leading female role had a mind of her own when she decided to listen but found her childish at times.

Captain of my heart

June/ December romance. Could have used a little editing. A good storyline with potential. Narration was fair, but not realistic. Looking forward to seeing more from the Author. I received this audible in exchange for my honest review.

Captain of My Heart

Liked the small town feel. Like that it was a novella so it's easy to consume in a sitting. I was really surprised about the twist at the end and jumped in to the next book right away to see how it wrapped up. It wasn't necessarily a cliff hanger, but it definitely left some questions for me and wasn't a traditional HEA. Not a bad thing, just not something I'm used to.

Great Read

Captain of My Heart was a great Read by Giselle Lukas. I really enjoyed reading this book. Cass moved to a new place after her husbandleft her and their children. She never expected to want another man, especially someone who is thirty years older than her. I absolutely loved Cass and Ray’s story and can’t wait to read more of this series.

Sweet and moving love story.........

Captain of My Heart is a very touching love story about two lonely people suffering from past hurts that slowly learn to trust and love again. Cass is an amazingly strong and resilient woman, and she is the perfect match to The Captain. He will absolutely steal your heart with his kindness, resolve and depth of character. Add in some drama with an ex-husband and town gossips, and you have a short but emotionally charged story. The ending of the book made me very sad, but the author introduces some interesting possibilities in the epilogue. I see that the next book in the series is already available on Audible, so I have hopes that book will give me the HEA.

When I see that an author is reading her book, I am usually hesitant to listen. Good audiobook narration is a talent that few possess. However, Lumas does equally well writing and narrating. She had good pace and flow, and she did a great job differentiating between the characters. I especially enjoyed her spunky take on Cass and her deep, mellow portrayal of The Captain.

Great Beginning

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. I actually listened to the second book before this one. Both books were well written and the stories told were nice. The narrator was good and broth emotions alive. This book shows how the captain and Cass meet and the things that happened in their past and how it made them different people. I love Cass's kids especially the preteen.
