Publisher's Summary
R.S.V.P. to the most riotous wedding of the year....
Lucy Jorik is the daughter of a former president of the United States.
Meg Koranda is the offspring of legends.
One of them is about to marry Mr. Irresistible - Ted Beaudine - the favorite son of Wynette, Texas. The other is not happy about it and is determined to save her friend from a mess of heartache.
But even though Meg knows that breaking up her best friend's wedding is the right thing to do, no one else seems to agree. Faster than Lucy can say "I don't", Meg becomes the most hated woman in town - a town she's stuck in with a dead car, an empty wallet, and a very angry bridegroom.
Broke, stranded, and without her famous parents at her back, Meg is sure she can survive on her own wits. What's the worst that can happen? Lose her heart to the one and only Mr. Irresistible? Not likely. Not likely at all.
Call Me Irresistible is the book Susan Elizabeth Phillips's readers and listeners have long awaited. Ted, better known as "little Teddy", the nine-year-old heartbreak kid from Phillips's first best seller, Fancy Pants, and as "young Teddy", the hunky new college graduate in Lady Be Good, is all grown up now - along with Lucy from First Lady and Meg from What I Did for Love. They're ready to take center stage in a saucy, funny, and highly addictive tale fans will love.

SEP is Back In The Game!! Loved It!
I can't tell you how mad I was with the length of time that we had to wait for a new SEP book. I was completely filled with righteous indignation and was all prepared to scream long and loud if the book was not worth the wait or if a sub-standard narrator had been selected...but oh was that NOT a problem.
I loved this book...and here comes a shocker...I LOVED THE NARRATOR!! I didn't think an SEP audio experience would ever be the same after Anna and I still miss her narrations dearly, but Shannon Cochran who holds her own. And is a reader more than capable of allowing the listener to experience the tale. I hope she is the narrator for the next book. I will definitely be looking for more of her work.
Typically, SEP usually gives us the primary couple's story and then there is a secondary couple...that was missing from this book...and I'm glad...because I wanna know what Lucy was up to...and I want ALL of the details.
I did love the individual characters in the town...but even more so that the town itself took on the role of one of the main characters in the book and not just a setting. There were several characters from previous SEP books that we were able to catch up with...the only one that came off a little different to me was Kenny; I'm not certain what happen there he was a little too "grown up" for me.
There is not much I can say about this book that I didn't like...but SEP be warned...don't make us wait this long again! :)

Good, but not one of my favorites!
I have awaited the story of Teddy Beaudine for as long as I can remember. Wasn't sure about Meg as the heroine (as I din't really enjoy her in WIDFL), but she was an ok character. What I didn't enjoy about this book was the lack of dialogue from Ted's point of view. For about 90% of the book the story surrounds only Meg's point of view. Having loved Ted from Fancy Pants and Lady Be Good, I was entirely unimpressed with the lack of Ted's viewpoint. Another thing lacking in this book was the secondary love story, a signature plot point in nearly every one of SEP's books. Instead, it was just Meg rambling on and on until near the end when we finally hear what ted is thinking. The narrator was terrific, but I hope SEP will finish Lucy's story and go back to her usual formula. I base my rating for this story on how amazing SEP's other books are. To be honest, if CMI was my first SEP book, I'd be really unimpressed with the movement of the story.

Absolutely delightful! and unexpected surprises!
I contemplated purchasing this one for a while.. So if your doing the same... Stop and buy it Now!
It is absolutelty enthralling, the main character is so unexepected. Its perfectly balanced with just the right amount of mystery, drama, love (In every sense of the word... In fact, very detailed love scenes), moments where you wince, laugh, frown and are in awe. Its very well rounded. I absolutely loved it, and will be listening to it again soon.

I LOVE SEP!
I am addicted to SEP audio books, and one reason was because of Anna Fields narration. While, she is still sincerely missed, and have no qualms or complaints with the new narrator. She's extremely talented! If you are a review reader, as I am, don't pay attention to the negative nancy. This book is wonderful! Fantastically developed main characters and laugh-out-loud supporting characters as well. This particular book is filled with returning characters from SEP older volumes, and because I enjoyed this one so much I ended up buying the other books just to know supporting characters' backgrounds. Once you have reached Part 2 you won't want to turn it off...I drove in my car for four hours one Sunday afternoon to finish this book.

Not an SEP favorite.
I have listen to hundreds of books but rarely review. I want to give props to the narrator. I think she did an excellent job and I would listen to other books she has done.
The story on the other hand lacked for me. I never felt like Meg evolved over time and I felt Ted never did either. There were familiar story lines from other books and much of the story felt recycled. This book was an easy listen but over all I don't feel a draw to revisit these characters again as I do with many of the other SEP books.

Not so irresistible
Like some of the others I'm a big fan of SEP and I have every one of her books but this one is a repeat. Female character has no money, won't accept help from anyone, lives in poor conditions and falls in love with the rich handsome man. Won't let him help her or take anything from him...do you think you have heard this story before, well you have, just read her other books. Breathing Room, Natural Born Charmer, etc. I also don't know if it was the narrator or just the bad story but the interaction/attraction between Meg and Ted was missing. Ted was boring and had an unattractive personality and that is so different of how he was in Fancy Pants. There was very little chemistry between Meg and Ted and for him to get left at the alter and then 2 months later be having sex with the person who the town says "broke up the wedding" is nuts (but so is the idea that it would be Meg's fault and that an entire town would turn ugly towards her.) Also crazy that Lucy (who left Ted at the alter) thinks it is great that Meg wants to have sex with him. Really?
I normally love SEP books but I wish I had not used my credit on this one. Next time I will wait until more reviews come out before jumping in and buying something just because she wrote it. Narrator was okay...no one can replace Anna Fields she is truly missed.

I think this book is a five star book...
I was not sure about this book By Susan Elizabeth Philips , but you know I loved it, This was a different twist on romance it was messy and more realistic than most, I liked the small town ladies and the real life characters in this story line, I laughed and got angry at the characters and to me that is a sign the book is worth the effort to Liston to, I finished this book in two days i could not put my I pod down, Not good when you need to see clients.. I hope you try this one it is a must read in my opinion and I have allot of books in my library..

4 ½ stars. Very enjoyable.
I didn’t want to stop reading. Fun escape.
REVIEWER’S OPINION:
The author used a similar plot in several books. Heroine is down on her luck, in an unfriendly place, abandoned by family/friends, has no money. The locals bully, despise and/or humiliate her. She suffers, discovers things about herself, becomes responsible/successful, and finds love. If a reader complains that they’ve read this before, I say “Who cares. It’s a fun story and she does it well.”
The first time I read this I was uncomfortable seeing favorite characters from earlier books being mean to Meg. But the second time I read this that didn’t bother me at all - maybe because I knew they would all like her in the end. And the same thing with Ted’s feelings. The first time I read the book, I wanted more of his point of view. But the second time I read it, I was fine with what happened. This book is better the second time.
PRIOR BOOKS:
I suggest reading the author’s books in the following order for the character flow.
5 stars. Glitter Baby. Fleur is a beautiful model living a glamorous life, then has nothing, and then brings herself back to the world, developing brains, strength and relationships along the way. She marries famous actor/playwright Jake. Meg is their daughter who is now 30 and the heroine in this book. Meg’s best friend is Lucy.
5 stars. Fancy Pants. Francesca is a rich English girl, whose mother dies leaving her penniless and stranded in the U.S. She gets a job as a cleaning lady for a small town radio station. She marries famous golfer Dallas. Ted is their son, the hero in this book.
5 stars. Lady Be Good. Emma is headmistress of a girls’ boarding school in England. She visits the U.S. for two weeks and meets Kenny, a famous bad boy golfer. They marry and live in Wynette, Texas. They are friends with Francesca, Dallas, and Ted.
5 stars. First Lady. Cornelia is wife of the U.S. President who dies in office. She meets and marries Matt Jorik a journalist. They adopt orphan Lucy. Cornelia later becomes President. Lucy is now 31 and is engaged to marry Ted in this book. Meg is Lucy’s best friend.
4 stars. The Great Escape Lucy Jorik leaves Ted at the altar and runs away. She sees a stranger on a motorcycle Patrick Shade “Panda.” She asks him for a ride. Read this right after First Lady since Lucy has a significant role in both books.
STORY BRIEF:
Ted is close to perfect, handsome, genius IQ, everyone in town loves him. They made him mayor without asking him. Most females fall in love with him. He is engaged to marry Lucy, daughter of the former U.S. President.
Meg has never had a job, dropped out of college, and travels the world for fun. Her famous parents recently cut her off financially, hoping she will become responsible. Meg travels to Wynette, Texas, to be Lucy’s maid of honor. Meg raises some questions which cause Lucy to realize she is not in love. Lucy abandons Ted at the altar and wants Meg to do the explaining. Everyone in town blames Meg, thinking she talked Lucy out of the wedding. Lucy left town, and no one knows where she is. As Meg is checking out of the hotel, she realizes her credit cards have been cancelled. She doesn’t have enough money to pay the hotel. She has over borrowed from everyone she knows, and there is no one she can call. The police chief threatens to put her in jail if she can’t pay her hotel bill. Ted suggests she work it off as a hotel maid, which she does. She is sleeping in her car and has no money for food.
Spencer owns a plumbing company. He is looking for a location to open a factory and visits Wynette. The town desperately needs jobs, and everyone in town hopes he will choose Wynette for the factory. Spencer wants to be Meg’s lover and sugar daddy. She does not feel the same and tries to avoid him. Most people in town dislike Meg and have been mean to her, but they want her to be nice to Spencer to get his factory.
AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Shannon Cochran was pretty good doing this book. But she was awful doing “The Great Escape” (TGE). In TGE she used a weird chipmunk type of voice for many characters. In the beginning of this book CMI she used that weird voice twice: once for Matt Jorik and once for Dallie Beaudine. But after that the narrator didn’t use the weird voice much. I was ok with most of the rest of the book.
DATA:
Narrative mode: 3rd person. Story length: 385 pages. Swearing language: moderate, including religious swear words. Sexual language: none. Number of sex scenes: 10. Setting: current day mostly Wynette, Texas, with some California and New York. Copyright: 2011. Genre: contemporary romance.

SEP is back!
After her last book I am glad to see SEP is back. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely re-listen to it again. I have gotten so used to Anna Fields read SEP books that I was a little hesitant with the narrator but Shannon Cochran were great. I also enjoy the character Francesca Day in this book better than in Fancy Pant. The only disappointment .. there was no ???the last chapter??? but glad to have we had an epilogue!

The rating says it all for me
SEP was my first enjoyable introduction into listening to books. If I didn't own all of the others I would have thought this was her first attempt.
I cannot figure out if it truly was the story or if it was missing the remarkable Ana Fields but whatever it was I found this story...tedious. If you want to own all of her audible books...that would be the only reason to purchase.. But that is just my opinion.

Vintage SEP
I think SEP is a genius. Heard this as an audiobook and will definitely be buying a copy of this book. The performer - Shannon Cochran is brilliant, managing to do all the different voices very well and bearing in mind the ensemble scenes in this book, that's no mean feat.
The story is vintage SEP - down on her luck girl finds herself at the mercy of quite a malicious town who will do anything to humiliate her becos they blame her for destroying the life of their golden boy mayor. Girl manages to find herself, get the mayor, earn the respect of the town - it sounds so clich?d but SEP manages it brilliantly.
I stayed up till 4:30 and 2:00 in the morning on consecutive nights to hear this - it's that good. And the last couple of minutes - brilliant - one of the best endings I've ever read.

Ok, but not as good as Chicago Stars series
This book was ok but the story and the characters in the town were just ridiculous and I just kept rolling my eyes. They all need a slap upside the head. The Chicago Stars series by the same author is so much better!
