Hatcher and his community of survivors attempt to recover from a devastating and well-coordinated attack from the Zulus. With their home burned and their infrastructure failing, they branch out looking for a new place that they can defend. A place that they can call home.

The CDC researchers discover that their cure was not what they thought. As the first to be exposed begin to change into something else, they worry that they’ve doomed what is left of humanity to a fate worse than death.

Simon is wounded, the vast majority of his infected army destroyed in the attack on the Cagers. Now his people are shaking off their virus-induced rage. The cure is taking hold, and his ranks thin even more. He wakes to find himself alone in a changed world. But is he alone?
