From the best-selling author of the Mistborn series and Words of Radiance comes Calamity, the final book in the New York Times best-selling Reckoners series. What started in the instant number-one New York Times best seller Steelheart and continued in the instant number-one New York Times best seller Firefight now concludes in Calamity.

When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David's fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy.

David knew Prof's secret and kept it even when Prof struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Once the Reckoners' leader, Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He's disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there's no turning back....

But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics - Megan proved it. They're not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It's the third book that concludes "The Reckoners" series, but a well written and heartfelt conclusion it is. I recommend the entire series, actually, as the story's quality stays strong till the very end.

Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?

Oh, tough question. They were all so great. David and his bad similes still take the cake, but the rest were so awesome that it's hard to choose. Most of the Reckoners could probably be the main character in their own novel; they were all likable, but some had still relatively mysterious open ended pasts that could be expanded upon.

MacLeod Andrews did a near perfect job in his narration throughout this whole series. No exaggeration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Broken, but not beaten.

Any additional comments?

If you like the supernatural, comic books, witty well written characters, or adventure of any kind then read "The Reckoners" series. Full of laughs, tears and very human moments, the entire series has a lot of heart. You will not regret it. Excellent audiobooks.

Genre: Modern Fantasy adventure (think comic books)
Audience: Anybody really. Teens and above.

Series: "The Reckoners"
Book 1: Steelheart
Book 2: Firefight
Book 3: Calamity

Here in the series finale author focuses on bringing the story to the close. It doesn’t have as much action as the first book in the series, (but more than the second) and only introduces on new character. It takes several twists and turn along the way which I didn’t see coming and as always has some great metaphors (or poor attempts at them which is the fun). The story is new and inventive which is really makes it unique. Well written and balanced ‘Calamity’ is a fitting if somewhat sappy ending to the Reckoners series.

Mr. Andrews does a great job with all the characters and really helps bring the story to life.

A great ending to a great series

Sanderson usually gets pretty high marks from me- I generally find his style of writing to resonates well with my preferences. And I really enjoyed his Reckoner series as a departure from his other fantasy writing by exploring the "super hero" genre in some new and exciting ways- I was hooked from the 1st book. I also enjoyed the character of David Charleston, who is pretty goofy in a lot of way for a lead role, which makes him interesting.

Finding a way to criticize this 3rd book in the series is hard in some ways, because it hits a lot of the checkboxes of the other 2- the main characters we know are still there, although I guess you could say they haven't really evolved much from a character arc perspective- they remain relatively static in their nature. Still, they are good characters, so it's hard to complain about that too much. There are plot twists and lots of action, so its intriguing from that regard.

I guess if I had to put a finger on it, the 2nd book left with some pretty big reveals which generated a LOT of new questions. I had wanted the story to pick up with those questions and focus on that a bit more, but instead we get more missions. It's not that they are bad or don't make sense, it just felt like the plot took a step back for a while. I also found myself watching the remaining time on this one and thinking to myself "there is still an AWFUL lot to wrap up here and there is only how much time left?". In the end, the pieces come together, the major questions get answered and resolved, and there is a nice smile at the very end. In some ways, the1st half felt somewhat like filler though (that's probably a bit harsh- it was still good, I just kept waiting for the story to get to the part I REALLY wanted, which was the last third or quarter).

I could not picture this being read by anyone other than MacLeod Andrews- he really became these characters and his pacing was just so spot on for them. To be able to go from goofy and insecure David to an angry and scary Prof, then back to the Canadian French accent of Abraham showed a pretty remarkable range; he understood and made the characters come alive.

So, I did take one star off the Story rating, though it was hard to really define exactly what made it less appealing to me than the previous books. Still an excellent series and a good ending to the storyline.

Off just a bit from the other 2, but still gold

But Sanderson lived up to promises and gave a satisfying conclusion. I hope Sham fiction does a reckoners podcast for this story

I was worried

it lacked something that made the first two novels more spellbinding. Yes, there were numerous close calls and some plot twists but the several of characters lost a lot of the allure from the previous novels (ex. Megan, David, Abraham) and one, Mizzy, became even more annoying.

Still very good but ...

When I heard this was the final book in the series I was disappointed. Many author's authors continue to go on and on and on with a story because they cannot figure out how to end it in a way that is satisfying. If there is never another book in the series I am satisfied with this ending.

Great job Brandon! The Kids & I loved it.

Endings are hard & seldom ever good. This Is Good!
