Sweet Mystery for Stephanie Plumb Fans

Would you consider the audio edition of Buttercream Bump Off to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version of this book, or any print version of the author's other books, but I did love this audio book so much. The narrator is wonderful and does an excellent job. It is a fun listen, and you could do so all at one time.

What other book might you compare Buttercream Bump Off to and why?

The Stephanie Plum series for sure. Same steamy storylines (to a point), a couple of curse words here or there, romance, a little snark, a little kooky. Just right.

What about Susan Boyce’s performance did you like?

I loved her ability to make you love the characters and the way she transitioned between them. She also did not do a terrible Southern accent.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sweet Treat, Deadly Treats

Any additional comments?

One thing that bothers me is this... who is watching the store? How are they making money?

Don't Waste Your Time

I am finished with this series. There are several things that prevented me from finishing this book. The characters are annoying and immature in their personal relationships, which takes up too much of the story. The idea that a woman over 50, Melanie's mother, would think that her dress was capable of killing someone is absurd. Jenn McKinley is trying to hard to make this a funny and light cozy mystery by introducing silly and immature characters. I enjoy cozy mysteries that includes well developed and realistic characters who get involved in a mystery. Not characters that I would have avoided in middle school.

Entertaining

I did enjoy it but Susan Boyce bugged me a bit. At times she sounded like she didn’t finish words that ended in s or x. It was weird to my ears.
The story was good and when the “playing Twister in hell” line came along, I shot out Ovaltine milk from my mouth and nose, it struck me funny, I just didn’t expect it!
Not sure I’ll continue the series. I have enjoyed the entire Library series but not quite sold on this one.

Don't waste your money

Worst who-done-it ever! Seemed to be more focused on Mel & Joe not doing it.

killer among the cupcakes

"She said" "Angie said" omg almost every change of speaker was labeled. it was so freaking annoying. Most people know how to follow dialogue. The story line was mediocre at best. Still, I'm plowing through the series.

This series is fun!

I have one criticism. Why do they cut off words that end in an "S"? The reader would never choose to do that. To me, it sounds like it's being done in the editing. I feel like I'm choking as I'm listening. It drives me crazy!

Alternately disappointing and fun

I like the idea and the story but I couldn’t get over a graceless, horribly wrong choice early on. The rest was good not great but worth listening to.
